Strength:
looks good & weighs like it's tough! very robust sound --- good enough... plays VCD/SVCD; 5-disc means you don't have to stand up and reload multi-disc movies like LOTR.
Weakness:
BUT looks can be deceiving... mine lasted JUST AFTER the 2 year extended warranty. had to contact manufacturer to locate service center in my area. found 1; they found damaged module but part was not available; if not, too expensive. unit stayed w/ repair shop for 2 weeks; philips was not able to give price for part - apparently, repair + part costs = impractical. best option to replace whole unit. was it worth the 2 years i was able to own the unit? money's burnt so i guess all i can say is NO. would i recommend? definitely NO! HTIB's, specially multi-disc are a big risk. not much use when until gets busted. best to buy piece-by-piece (DVD player/receiver/speakers/etc.). unit is now good only for parts. only consolation is i have spare 4 ohm speakers and a 4 ohm subwoofer which you can use if you buy a higher end YAMAHA. good sound & decent power BUT very bad after-sales service from manufacturer.
