It does what is says it calibrates any speakers you connect to output the correct surround output not just connectivity but frequency and power. You can plug in your mp3 player or android to the mini jack in the front for easy audio in.

The above could be a wekness if you want more than four speakers because it detects any additional as incorrect power and kicks off protection ( this is a good thing though) .
