Strength:
Inexpensive all in one unit with a dvd player and component out. DTS and pro logic support as well as Dolby 5.1. Has played most any disk I have thrown at it including DVD+-R and RW, with only few problems, like the odd stutter and the menu messing up occasionally. Speaker voulme adjustable. For the price it performs as expected with good playback of most disk types. Broke down after 15 months with a protection error. Was under extended warranty and was repaired with a new capacitor. Extended warranry was a good move this time.
Weakness:
Low audio quality for music listening. Sub not powered, boomy when set loud eneough. Of course no SACD or DVD audio (high res) playback. Firstly this is my second Home Theatre system and was free with a 51inch TV. It would be inadequate to use in a home theatre room with this 51inch TV however I use it as a second system in my living room with an older 27inch CRT TV. It performs OK with that setup for DVD viewing but I am used to much higher end equipment for audio and theatre viewing. Similar Products Used: RCA and KOSS units used at work. Koss was much poorer that Toshiba. RCA was better at audio as it had better/larger speakers |
