Strength:
Price...features...easy setup...decent sound, especially for watching movies with
Weakness:
Only 5.1...Not great sound for loud rock music...might be hard to find, I got ours at Costco I picked this unit up at Costco for $399.00, and at that price it is a great deal...might be hard to find one now, there were two left at the store I visited and I purchased one of them. So, for 400 dollars I wasn't expecting much. However, I was surprised at the weight of the components. The front, rear and center speakers plug into the powered subwoofer which does a nice job of filling up our living room with decent sound. It is great for watching movies with. The 5 disc dvd will play cds of pictures or movies from our computer but occasionally freezes up. With regular dvds or cds it has not been a problem. My verdict is for you can't go wrong for the price...even at 500 I think it is a good buy. You won't rock the house with music, but it is great for tv and movie sound. For now it will be fine but eventually I plan to move it to the bedroom and get a killer system for the living room Customer Service Not sure but Costco will take it back if there are any problems |

Strength:
Better than average powerful sound
Weakness:
Integrated DVD player and receiver make upgrading components difficult or impossible. Ditto with the proprietary audil connections - All speakers connect to the subnwoofer which then connects to the receive via what looks like a computer monitor cable.
Good value for the price paid. The sound quality is much better than my old Sony HTIB that I purchased a few years ago at a higher price. Similar Products Used: Sony HT1700D |
