Strength:
The sleek look and compact design make it perfect for the setup I have, which is a "family room"/TV room within a 1,500-square-foot townhome with a mid-level, 34" TV. The sound is terrific. The setup is very easy -- though I was sold a "bill of goods" by Circuit City when they convinced me to buy Monster cables even though they weren't quite compatible with this system. Its ease of setup and the quality of the sound and picture make it a very welcome addition to my home!
Weakness:
Then again ... the manual appears to have been written by a "tech-geek" and not fully translated into regular English. For an audiophile, it might be a breeze; for me, figuring out the remote, what channel to use with which DVD (5.1, mono, etc.), and how to access the onscreen menus has been a nightmare. I'm a home-theater beginner, and in many ways I wish I had bought a system that was more in line with my abilities. The remote and the manual are absolute nightmares! I love having a home theater system -- I just wish this Yamaha weren't so confusing to use. Looks great, sounds great, but provides a maximum challenge almost every time I turn it on. Had I shopped around more, I might have still purchased this system for its quality ... but might also have opted for one that was similarly outfitted but more user friendly. |

Weakness:
REMOTE CONTROL IS CRAMP WITH ALOT OF DIFERENT FEATURES.TOO SMALL.CD SOUND QUALITY IS NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF SPEAKERS. I'M STILL TRYING TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE UNIT AND SO FAR, I'M IMPRESS WITH YAMAHA. THE IMAGE IS THE STRONG POINT OF THIS UNIT.FOR $799 IT'S A BARGAIN BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING YOU GET IN THIS RECEIVER. |
