None at $180 This is a review for the Sony DVP-NC665P. It is virtually the same as the DVP-NC655P with a couple extra needless features. This is the best 5-disc DVD player you can by for the money. This unit replaced a Panasonic DVD-F65K 5-disc progressive scan DVD player ($130). I only had the Panasonic for a month and exchanged it for the Sony. I purchased the Panasonic originally because of the lower price tag. However, I liked nothing about the Panasonic. I just love the Sony. There are only positives and no negatives about this player in this price range. The picture quality with S-video is obviously great. The sound quality is also great, especially for playing CD's. The sound is even better than that of the Panasonic. I always thought there was no noticeable sound difference in brand name (Toshiba, JVC, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Pioneer, etc.) DVD players. But the Sony sounds amazing, especially while playing CD's. There is a very noticeable difference between it and the Panasonic. It also has all the features you can ask for in this price range. Optical output, S-video and component video outputs, Disc Exchange, Block Noise Reduction (reduces "blocks" of information that can occur while processing fast-moving or highly detailed images), Digital Video Enhancer (controls unwanted video artifacts and improves contrast and picture detail), Precision Drive 2 (provides improved reading accuracy with scratched/imperfect discs). The remote is also better than average. If you're looking to purchase a 5-disc DVD player, you must get the Sony DVP-NC665P. Don't save the $50 and get anything else. It's worth it.
