Strength:
Picture Quality is amazing, Sound Quality
Weakness:
Difficult to navigate Menus, small remote, front panel buttons are kind of flimsy. This SVHS VCR is awsome, as long as you are confident with your ability to operate complex peices of gear. The menu is by far its biggest weakness, or strength, depending on what you are looking for. Descriptive terms such as ON SCREEN DISPLAY and are no where to be found, in their place are names such as SUPERIMPOSE and CUSTOM SET. It's picture quality reminds me of the Video Editing equipment I used in college. Very solid, not smeared over. I have a lot of tapes of programs that over 10 years old, and would not play very well on my SONY 4 head VCR, but play perfectly on the Marantz. (But then again my sony cost 150 bucks, and the Marantz was probably closer to 400 bucks.) This VCR seems to have been designed more for Commercial use than Consumer use. It toom me while to figure out, but once I did, I loved it. Similar Products Used: Sony SLV-778HF 4 Head HiFi VCR |
