Strength:
Good playback, although my sound heads need cleaning. (I guess that's why I bought a DVD player).
Weakness:
NO PROGRAMMING WITHOUT REMOTE I'm basically ticked off because I can't program this thing without the remote. My remote is long lost, and I know, I know.. I can order another for 21 bucks, but DAMN, Panasonic - can a brother get a MENU button on the front panel? My universal remote also doesn't support any VCR menu functions (it sucks too). Anyway, I thought I'd complain, not that it matters because they probably don't sell the PV8450 anymore. |

This machine is best used as a playback machine. The audio playback quality was excellent with outstanding stereo and surround imaging. The only audio drawback was some hi-fi clattering so I doubt the machine has noise switching reduction circuitry. This occurred on some tapes both prerecorded or from tapes recorded on other hi-fi machines. Playback video quality was excellent even on a 61 inch projector set. Nice lifelike imagage and nice color reproduction. Surprisingly, recording quality in SP and EP was just fair plus whether off cable or from the video inputs. Audio recording from cable or the audio inputs was very good; use a VHS tape that you know records more in the bass area for this machine. The machine ran $128 and had features that I had on a Mitsubushi made some years back that cost $400. Overall I like the machine, its features and remote for the price. Good! |
