- Poorly designed remote I was looking for a fairly inexpense 4 head stereo vcr with jacks in front to view/record from my camcorder. I purchased the vcr at BJ's (similar to Cosco, Priceclub, Sam's club). I found that the remote control was unlike any I have owned before in that it is small and difficult to find the buttons you are seeking. I am sure familiarity would come if the vcr were used as regularly as the TV. Just after the warranty expired, the unit began recording in poor quality black and white only and poor audio. OK, so now its a VCP. More recently, I tried to watch videos from my camcorder. Since then, I cannot get tuner signal for any channels. It's time to buy a new higher quality vcr and let the kids have this one for their cartoon videos. Similar Products Used: Toshiba VCR over 10 years old - never have had a problem |

This VCR is junk.I puchased it at Wal-Mart for about $190.00.I have a digital home theater, but my wife wanted a VCR so I figured I could just go down to Wal-Mart and get something for her to tape TV shows with.Just after my warranty expired, the ejection mechanism stopped ejecting and I still have a tape stuck in it.As this transpired, the VCR became very hot and there was the clear odor of burnt electronics in the air.I hope that the problem was not with Philips, but with the fact that I purchased a VCR at Wal-Mart.I should have known better than to buy any electronic item from them. This episode caused me to shell out $275.00 for a real VCR at a real stereo shop. |

I purchased this VCR about a year ago for $119, which I think is a great price for this unit. It has worked flawlessly since I've owned it. The remote is a bit small but had no problem controlling my TV. Overall I think this is a great product for a great price. |
