Strength:

Great sound, The Power, Surround, fully functional remote, Size, Input Volume Level Control, Makes a great home theatre

Weakness:

Only three EQ presets makes it hard to match with the three DSP settings (hard to find a good match)

I have read all of the reviews on this product and am surprised by all of the negativity directed at this product. I have read many things about the cd player not working right. Mine did have a slight tracking problem, but a quick swish of a q-tip solved that it. The sound is phenominal when you get the speakers in the right places. It's amazing how superior the sound quality is when hooked up to a hi-fi VCR. The tape deck is fantastic in terms of features, ease of use, and quality. It has great tuner reception too. You know, even at the price it originally retailed for ($450), it is well worth it. This system deserves nothing under five stars.

Strength:

With this piece of crap it has no strengths

Weakness:

To much to type

This is the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought.
I can't stand to listen to CD's anymore because the thing skips so bad. The only thing it is good for and is listening to the radio and it isn't very good at it.
Now I am going to have to work a good share of the summer to buy a new one but I don't think,no matter fact I know it's not going to be an Aiwa. There product is crap. And there customer service is even worse.

Overall, this product is good as a mini system. For $500, it's steep, but they're available for less. The dynamic response is good, but the optional subwoofer adds a bass that sounds somewhat diminished from the main speakers. I wish the surrounds had volume control, too. However, the CD player on this product is not up to par. It skips a lot and is overly sensitive to anything!
I would love it if manufacturers started implementing skip protection in their shelf and rack products, not just in their portable CD players. It would save a lot of hassles due to CD skipping in higher-end systems. The system would have gotten 4 stars from me, but the CD thing knocks one of those off.

Strength:

None

Weakness:

CD player is as bad as they come. Constantly skips even
after cleaning. Reception is horrible, have to fiddle with
antenna forever to get it right. Surround speakers useless.
Customer service is horrible. Web page to find information
is rediculous. Know two other people who threw theirs away
and bought a different brand last year.
cleaning.

Overall, a horrible system. Not worth the money paid. I will not buy another AIWA product again.

Strength:

provides enough entertainment for me to make it through the day

Weakness:

CD player is driving me nuts

After having read other reviews of Aiwa products, my situation is not unique. My dilemma now is whether I should keep trying to clean the darn thing, or should I get a something new altoghether?! Anything new definitely will not be an Aiwa!
