Strength:
Loud, quality sound, looks nice.
Weakness:
None I bought an AIWA NSX-999 in August of 1996 at Best Buy. I have not had one problem with it whatsoever. My system has been through 6 moves in that time and still plays as well as it did the first day out of the box. The sound is awesome and powerfull, especially since I added a Pioneer subwoofer about 1 1/2 years ago. I have never had any problem with any CD's or features, and the remote is still in perfect shape. If you take care of your equipment (i.e. cleaning the laser, dusting system, proper air flow) then no problems will arise. I absolutely recommend AIWA products. I have also used Sony CD players and they have all died within 6 months of purchase, I will never buy a sony product again. Sony makes terrible products in my opinion, stick with AIWA. Strength:
Lots of features (at the time of purchase), decent sound
Weakness:
Temporary loss of surround sound; CD tracking I am finally moving on to "real" home theater system and decided to view what others thought of my old AIWA. In my 4+ years of ownership, it has been a fairly reliable piece of equipment. At the time of purchase, I couldn't beat the price for all the features (3 CD carousel, DSP modes, surround-type sound for TV, most functions controlled by the remote). I always thought the sound quality was decent, but was never thrilled by the lack of fullness in the bass. I purchased an Ultimate 8" subwoofer several months back ($95 shipped from 800.com on a closeout) and it dramatically improved the sound. I have had problems with the tracking of a few CD's, but nothing widespread. If I hadn't read about other's mechanical problems, I would highly recommend this to a "casual" listener. However, their problems won't impact my rating. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
This was a thoroughly satisfactory system.
Weakness:
Unfortunately: CD player skipped and finally wouldn't read discs. Had it repaired once (just out of warranty, of course), and it lasted another couple of years. It is back in the shop now and I am not going through with the repair again. Wonder if cleaning the lens the way another tech guy in this forum recommended is worth the trouble. Don't take a chance. My overall rating is for when it worked. Similar Products Used: Always loved Aiwa, when it was unknown and unloved and totally reliable. All good things must come to an end. |

Time I own Aiwa NSX-999MkII more than 4 years.I didn't have any problems with this device, only "time" is its worst enemy. With the pass of the years,it went a little bit "week" in it's mechanical parts,cd changer as well.It became doing "jump's" when cd plays, but i resolve the problem with a cd-lens cleaner. No power HELP. Hit the power button on the AIWA the other night and NOTHING! I can't figure out the problem. Does anyone have ANY clue as to what is wrong or how I can restore my sound? Thanks for any help! |
