Strength:

Looks nice, has good sound.

Weakness:

Prone to dust in the cd player.

I was reading through the Hall of Shame here and saw my old aiwa unit listed. After reading through the comments here, i can relate to most of the problems others have been having. My cd player wouldn't play for a long time- it'd spin the cd, and then act like there wasn't anything there and go to the next disc, only to repeat on that disc. My solution was to unscrew the top of the unit and actually wipe the laser lense off with a soft cloth. has worked perfectly ever since. i find it hard to believe that some of these self-professed audiophiles haven't figured this out for themselves, and have simply dismissed the unit as "junk". granted, this unit does seem to be more picky about dust than every other one on the planet, but a simple remedy gets it running again. i'm still not convinced i'd buy another aiwa product, however. this unit does have great sound (it served as an audio receiver for my dvd player for a while).

Strength:

After 3 years it still plays the tapes, it sounds good, and it works okay.

Weakness:

Cd player isn't good at all. And it plays whenever it wants to.

After a couple of months it stopped playing cds I opened it to clean it, and then it started working. A month after the cd player didn't work anymore. I took it too a store where they fix stereos and they charged me $50.00 just for fixing the cd player. 3 moths after it didn't work anymore. I think that they are not good and I am not planning on buying another ever again.

Strength:

I only paid $15.00 for it.

Weakness:

The remote doesn't work unless you are directly in front of it.

The CD player didn't work when I brought it home, but with about three minutes of tinkering it been working fine for the last year. The first thing that I had to be replaced was the two-way speakers, as the sound out of them just plain hurt my ears! As luck would have it, I had a pair of better quality 3-way Aiwa speakers sitting around. I now have the unit hooked to my computer system and I couldn't be more happy! The AM/FM radio pulls in distant channels well and the sound is not bad.

Where's the bass??It's definitely a low end system ($200) but I get better sound from my 15 year old Sony boom box ($149 back then). At least the boom box has tweeters. I'm not much of an audiophile but I know a good thing when I hear it and I'll be returning this unit for another (higher priced I'm sure) unit tomorrow. I was hoping for a suggestion here but it seems there is a dearth of reviews on mini systems.

Beside the bass I suppose it's not too bad for someone who doesn't care. It has a three CD changer and two tape players. No high speed dubbing here though. The T-Bass button is pretty ineffective. 15 watts per channel.

Strength:

It looks like a cool little system.....

Weakness:

The CD player is totalled...it plays every once in a while. The CD player lasted like 4 months, and the output quality is a piece of junk.

This system is a piece of trailor park trash. It can't even play CD's anymore, and like reviews above, the CD player works only when it feels like it. I would stick with Panasonic mini-systems, or some other company other than Aiwa, cuz they make junk for products.

Strength:

this product is very very reliable. I had a barbeque last summer, and i forgot to bring the nsx-v2100 inside. The next day i found out that it had rained all night, and i thought that i had defiinately ruined the unit. To my disbelief the thing only had some minor damage and still played cds, tapes, and radio with good reception to boot. I cant say much about its power but its quality speaks for itself.

Weakness:

Its original power is really weak, but i have it set up to two cerwin vega floor speakers and now the thing pumps like hell.

definately relible, cheap, and worth an upgrade.
