Strength:

When the CD player doesn't work, who cares about other features?

Weakness:

CD player is junk.

Aiwa does not stand behind their product, and their product is bad. Mine works like everyone else's -- it doesn't. I'm saving for a new stereo now, but it won't be an Aiwa.

Strength:

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little cheaper, and the people who only consider price are the man's lawful prey. It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything , because the thing you bought is incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.
The Common Law of Business Balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
IT CAN'T BE DONE

Weakness:

CD player broke after 2 months of not hardly using it.

There are other reviews on this same product under the CD Player category. They say the same negative things about this product.

This product is not mine but belonged to my mother. She is like every 57 year old and beyond, scared to death of technology. She very rarely listened to CDs because of that. For the first couple of months the CD player on the unit worked fine. Then she got some CDs for her birthday and decided to use it and the CD would get picked up, spin, drop, and then shift to the next CD. It would continue until it didn't see any CDs in the player and then stop. I tried cleaning the laser head with a CD cleaner. Then I tried cleaning it by taking off the screws and using a q-tip. I used some compressed air that I use for my computer. It didn't work, the CD still is not being recognized by the player. I highly recommend to everyone that you stay away from Aiwa POS. Aiwa is a sister company of Sony. However, Sony's work and Aiwa doesn't. Although, I have been reading on this site that people have been having problems with Sony DVD players reading DVDs. What good is a product if the damn thing doesn't work. STAY AWAY FROM AIWA!!

Strength:

Great features list, nice punch for a little mini system.

Weakness:

CD player died early, as with everyone else's V70.

It's both a shame and an insult that nearly every reviewer/owner has had the same problem with the CD player that won't recognize CDs. The V70 was positioned as a higher-end mini-system, and this sort of absence of quality is unforgiveable. I will never buy an Aiwa product again.

Strength:

Great sound. Good features.

Weakness:

That damned cd player!

Got this unit about 1.5 years ago used.
Got a good deal, for the power and features, but......
then goes the cd drawer, (fixed under the store's
1 year policy, thankfully) then the (it would seem)
common problem of the not recognized cd. This was
a 90 bucker and it still was funky. Took it back to
the shop and they turned up the voltage (or something)
on the laser and that seemed to do the trick. Now it's
giving me grief again in the form of distortion (ocational)
from the cd player. (at least I assume it is the cd. Doesn't
do it on radio or tape.) Sounds like a radio drifting off
the station, and will sometimes cut out altogether, although
it doesn't miss a beat from the cd. It must be reading OK.
Anyway....had to move it from beneath the window. (I was
afraid the wife was going to heave it out!)

Strength:

Nice layout, plenty of power

Weakness:

CD Player malfunctions early and often

I see many complaints about the CD player failing to read the CD, so I might as well pile on. I owned my system for 1.5 years when the CD player first failed. The CD would be playing and then just stop. I sent the system in for repair an was told the optical pickup needed to be replaced. The CD player never did play properly from that day forward. Currently the system will not play CD's beyond track 3. Aiwa has lost a customer for LIFE. The shame of it is I really liked the layout, sound and power of the system.
