Strength:

It looks really good, and resale value back then was good.

Weakness:

Typical of Bose, there just isn't very good definition in the high range and there really isn't any bass to speak of. Classical music was kind of bland. Turning up the power showed a distinct lack of it. Sound was good at low levels, which I presume most buyers would play at.
It ain't for rock and roll or heavy classical music, both of which I like a bit on the loud side.
I give it 2.5 stars only because I feel sorry for those who have bought it and found it lacking. Apparently most people do, reading these reviews.

I never thought I'd fess up to owning one of these, but OK, I've done it. I got if from a friend that needed cash and had one his parents gave him as a gift. Good thing for him they live a far piece off.
I'd always thought it sounded ok, so when he offered it to me, I took him up on it. I was flush with money and he wasn't, and the price seemed OK.
After owning it for about 6 months, I had the chance to compare it to my daughters stereo boom box I'd bought her for her birthday. It was nondescript, I think it was a JVC, had the CD player and am-fm radio.
The damn boom box, costing half the price, sounded as good as the Bose Wave radio! I got to looking on the internet and my suspicions were confirmed by others who had compared the Wave radio with other less costly equipment. I'd never really paid any attention to my friends Wave radio before I bought it, I just thought it sounded OK, not great. After all, what can you expect from such a small package? Well, more than you get if you are looking at the dollars spent.
I wish I'd listened more carefully to the wave radio before I bought it. I wouldn't have, I'd have gotten a decent and pocketed the difference. Oh well, someone on ebay bought it from me for what I paid, and then some.
It wasn't bad for quiet listening, but turn up the volume and it really started to gasp. Not very powerful. How Bose can claim it sounds like a system costing 3 grand is beyond me. I have had several systems, all costing less than 3 grand and I'll put them up against any Wave radio in a blind test.

Strength:

Excellent sound

Weakness:

price. cant adjust bass or treble

Ok, trialled the bose wave for 1 month and was impressed by the clarity of the sound and even the looks of this small unit. However I just couldnt justify paying £500 for it especially as there are much cheaper alternatives on the market.

I read some reviews on the Creative Soundworks 745 (basically a bose clone) and decided to by one for £128. Now , the sound isnt as good as the bose but it is pretty damn good all the bass can become a little squelcy but aleast you can adjust the bass and treble.

Strength:

Size...sound.....design.....bass amplification great ....keeps the groove

Weakness:

There are cheaper but the sound is worth the extra bucks.

I could not be happier with the system. I bought the single CD unit for my office and crank it whenever I can. The sound is crystal clear and surrounds the room.

For those who think this will supplant a $3000 sound system...get real. For those in the real world this is a pleasure. Open the box and play.

Customer Service

The salesman just put it on and it sold itself....Hopefully that's the end of any need for CS

Strength:

High output. hgh quality, small size, plenty of inputs and really good quality. No table radio really has it going on like the Bose table radio, I am used to hearing one cranked up in my mom's room all the time, with no evidence of clipping or other distortion.

Weakness:

none really, you get what you pay for

Great room filling sound, inputs for the tv and very stylish. For a tiny radio with a couple of tiny speakers this thing has outpit to spare in a 20 x 15 room. They are equally comfortable with rock, talk, classical and television sound. They sound good with movies and have incredible output and durability. The CD player also works well.

Customer Service

Never needed it, the radio manual is great and self explanatory.

Strength:

Back-lit remote is easy to use. Great sound, both radio and aux input. Easy to set up. AM "talk radio" option is a plus.

Weakness:

Granted, price is a bit high, but for as good a quality product as this is, go for it! Wish it had HD capability.

I guess I got one of the "good ones," because my Bose Wave is excellent. The sound is room filling. Radio stations sound great, and the aux input allows connecting the audio from the cable box, thus providing great video sound, taking up very little shelf space.

Have had the unit for 3 years and played it about 1 hour/day. For the last 6-months, about 2 out of 3 times it has problems starting to play the CD leaving me repeatedly punching the remote buttons (same problem if you use the unit control buttons BTW). Last night I got frustrated enough to punch the Wave.

Bose Wave has sacrificed quality and put their money into massive glossy advertising - everywhere. You look at a Wave and its about $15 worth of plastic. There is no hi-tech magic - just a high end price and lots of profit. Compared to many quality audio products at this kind of dollar outlay you are getting no bargain or remarkable value.

I wouldn't even own one but had to cash a hotel "Frequent Flyer" points before I lost them.

Strength:

good bass for it's size

Weakness:

very unpleasant reproduction of cymbals.

After owning a Bose Wave Radio/CD for two years, I can say that it is no substitute for a full size stereo system. In fact, in my opinion, it is no better than a boom box costing a fraction of the price at playing rock music. The demands of rock music, especially the cymbals is too much for the Bose Wave to handle well.

If you are looking for a compact Radio/CD player for listening to classical music or light jazz, this would be a good choice although not good value your money. My experience has been that it plays some types of music reasonable well, but stay away from this product if you listen to mainly rock/pop style music.

Strength:

Fast, Detailed and smooth with decent base.

To me the cd player has good compnants beacuse it can pick up cd's that have good and bad recordings. which will come out the system.

Compact and neat with a sexy future look.

Nice sounding radio.

Weakness:

Nothing at all but,

Dont place it near the back walls coz it starts to sound really basey. and it can disrupe your listening pleasure.

What a very detailed sounding little system this is, that I must say. It has a nice midrange sort of a nice liquid sound. The base is good, fast and clear and timed but, NOT CHEAP BOOM BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK. The cd player is really good, it plays audio discs really top notch as in detaild and smooth. Really I find that the wave has a pit of potentiol of a good entry level hi-end system because of its good sound and componants, and if any one disagree, I DONT GIVE A F****!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK.
Well thats about the best I can say. But well done bose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Strength:

Nice midrange fron just two small paper cones which I find very jaw drooping.
Its got good base But not boomey base that will shake you up. But on the other hand it depends what you play. And the system would preform how the cd is recorded just like any good hi-end system would.

Weakness:

Don't know.

Just don't keep it to near the back wall or other wise it farts every wear.

Nice sounding llittle thing. Very clear, fast and detailed sound. This system has got to be the best for me, I have never litsened to somthing so so good from just a small compact componant in my life. The cd player it self is fantastic, and radio is clear as detailed, I mean it has a very good decent pick up, fron just coming from the power cable. Outstanding system, the sound qualitey is sort of hi-end sounding. It dose not produce boomy and distort sound like those cheap hi street systems. It has that kind of same perfromeance potential of a good entry level HI-END system. Even if you play a cd thats good or badly recorded, really the system will tell right away, just like any good system would do. Once againe this wave thing is top-notch. And I like to call this thing, HI-END system in a box. Because of its great performance and good componants and hansome looks.

P.S This is the new front loader version here.

This Bose Wave II SUCKS. I bought it about a month ago and I want to throw it out my kitchen window everytime i turn it on. the sound is misserable. Biggest waste of money, better off buying a nice pair of PC speakers and listening to the music you download on your computer for free. DONT BUY THE BOSE WAVE
