Strength:

compact, lightweight, great sound, duel alarms -- !!!

Weakness:

pricey, but you'll never find anything better this size with this many features.

I really don't understand why so many people give this product such a poor rating. Really you should not be comparing this thing to high-end equipment, and if you're even considering this bose product, odds are portability & size factor greatly. i will soon be purchasing this because i like to wake up to music as opposed to an annoying alarm clock -- tell me, where else could i get that feature sounding like this bose product without paying an arm and a leg? this answer is nowhere. this is a terrific product, and hands down, the very finest alarm clock money can buy. i haven't got any kind words to say about any other bose products however.

Strength:

Compact, natty remote, above average sound- only really struggles when volume is over the 85 mark (on a scale of 10-100)

Weakness:

Put this in perspective - you would have to pay a minimum of £400 for a decent CD player alone, without the amp, speakers, cable and all the space and mess it then takes up.

I''ve read the other reviews here for the Bose Wave CD Radio - and I have to say I think nearly everyone , especially the Bose haters out there, is missing the point. It doesn''t have to be, and indeed shouldn''t be, classed as a clock radio. The Wave can be so much more, but you''ve got to put it into perpesctive. You really can''t compare it to most other micro systems for one of two reasons: Other micro systems take up much more space, they are all a lot taller, and they have separate speakers, and often separate components which take up much more space and leave masses of ugly wiring. The Bose Wave should be taken for what it is, compact, stylish and portable. The sound reproduction has it''s weaknesses, but for £400 all-in what do you expect? It''s still way above average for filling reasonable size rooms at acceptable volumes, and it was always going to be poor for Heavy Metal and Hip Hop because these recordings are almost always fundamentally flawed in their recording and production anyway.

Strength:

Very cool looking. Nice alarm features. Small size. Good sound

Weakness:

Expensive. Remote buttons difficult to operate at night.

Tried the free 30 day trial and was quite impressed. I don''t think that the sound quality justifies £400 though. Some small micro systems (like the Denon D-M30 ) will give much better value

Strength:

good bass reproduce~ Min the cable Very small

Weakness:

lack of treble

Fisrt of all, I get to say this unit is that bad if I can be cheaper. Of course, the sound quality can''''''''t be as good as those audiophile pleasing product; however, for the size of this unit, it is really not that bad. The bass is very rich for the size like it, and the sound stage is wild. However, the sound is kind of too heavy for me~~~~~~~ and tooooooo $$$$$$$$.

Strength:

Great sound for the size

Weakness:

price

This thing sounds great -- for a clock radio. Those who expect audiophile sound out of a 12" by 5" box are deluded. On the other hand, those who spend 500 on a clock radio have a little too much disposable income. I listened to the cd/radio player for a couple of weeks before deciding that I could not justify the purchase. If you want to spend 500 bucks, spend 60 on a dream machine tp wake up to and listen to the radio quietly before bed, and then get a mini-stereo unit from denon or aiwa or someone for listening to real music.

Strength:

For a shoebox it sounds ok

Weakness:

lacks user controls

I was disapointed with this radio, the sound was advertised as being comparable to big stereo systems,CAN YOUR RADIO DO THIS! believe me it doesn''t even come close. It lacks everything an audiophile would enjoy. It''s speakers are too small. It claims to automatically ''shape''the sound eliminating the need for cumbersome controls.I paid over $500. One good thing to say about bose ,I was able to return it no questions asked for full refund they even paid shipping and I had it for more than 30 days.

If you are wondering a lot of people bash bose, it is because when people think of speakers they think bose. Same with sony, you think of electronics you think sony. All these people cannot give a credible review because no matter what sound they hear it is not going to be good. I would say 80% never even heard or owned them. The bose radio has awesome sound coming from a box no bigger than most Bose bashers brains. It is an awesome little alarm/clock radio and I love it!

The comments I have read attest to the success of this product. Bose bashing inherently comes from people who do not have much cash but have more fire in their review. I have recommended this product 3 times and have one myself. Once you have outgrown the need for knobs, sliders and blinking graphic dispalys you may just learn how to pay a lot for simplicity and good sound. Considering how they package it into such a small box they deserve the price bose is charging. No one else came up with the idea and marketed it succesfully. This is definitely not a GPX clock radio nor do they belong on the same shelf. I'll give this a 5 star for great sound and succesful marketing.

Strength:

Great look, easy to use & great sound.

Weakness:

$$$$$$$$$$$$

Simple......It's a clock radio that sounds fantastic for what it is. I have been able to not get it confused with real audio gear, unlike many others. I did listen to the JVC options, and did think that they as well looked and sounded pretty good. However, I prefered the sound of the wave radio. Sorry, I cant say that I took the thing apart, disecting it for quality control, design work, etc. It works for me. For any reason you do not like it, they take it back. Let your ears make your decision for you, not a bunch a guys that have to sell against it all day.

Too many to count

Against my advice, my friend purchased this CD-radio because he was convinced it was going to produce the awesome, full, rich, warm sound it claims. He was happy with it at first, until I showed hime what he could get for $500 at a local high-end store. A pair of Paradigm Titans, a cheap receiver, and an even cheaper CD-player blew the Bose out of the water, all for less than $450; stronger, deeper bass, larger soundstage, much more volume, better midrange, considerably more accurate, etc. He purchased the Titans that day and returned the Bose immediately. True, this radio sounds better than the average $50 model, but it has no place selling for $500, much less claiming it has the sound quality to compete with component systems. When people say that Bose bashers have little money or haven't ever listened to Bose, that is just a fabricated excuse for their lack of audio knowledge and experience with stereo equipment. My Grado SR-60 headphones with a Sony Discman sound better than anything I've ever heard from Bose, and I'm not even an audiophile!
