Great Looks. Poor sound quality and terribble radio reception.
We use it in a location where the power is shut off every night. You would think that they would have used non volitale ram for the station presets, or maybe a seperate battery for same.
Every morning the presets are gone.
The only way to prevent this is to physically unplug the power cord from the unit before power is lost. Too bad it is UP HIGH where we cannot do this.

WAS I NUTS. 60,000 American Express Points for this piece of sheer crap. I have owned many Fisher products and have a wonderful component system with CD player that is a Fisher and expected the same quality. Was I wrong. Confussing set-up. Tiny sound and where is the base? There isn't any. Ironic that it has a subwoofer attachment (that the booklet says is not included but guess what...Fisher doesn't make one for this unit...Gee China...I wonder why). Avery Fisher must be spinning fast enough in his grave to generate enough electricity to power Avery Fisher Hall with his name attached to this poor excuse for a CD/Stereo system.

My wife won this through a promotion. Sound quality is so bad I brought it to work and bought a new sytem for my home. This "piece of junk" drives comments from visitors to my office on how great it looks and how bad it sounds. Oh by the way, forget the cd player, it overheats after 10 minutues.

looks cool; has RCA input/output and RCA subwoofer output; not bad sound for a mini-system

CD player failure; generally shoddy construction; you have to snap the CD onto a spindle (like a portable CD player), unlike most similar-looking products (i.e. those that hold the CD vertically behind a clear door) - this is really kind of a pain, and if the CD player worked it would probably keep me from mounting it on the wall.

my sister just got this as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately my uncle got it for free as a promotion for his work, so I doubt there's any way to return it. I was excited for her when I first saw it, since it's a nice-looking system, but now obviously I'm disappointed. The CD player stopped working within an hour of plugging in the system. It'll play a CD for a minute or so, then freeze up and say "no disc". At one point it won't even acknowledge that there's a disc in the system. I think it might have something to do with heat buildup in the system, as it seems to work fine for a while after you let it cool off, but then as it warms up (I can feel the heat from outside the cabinet) it starts getting worse. Since we probably can't return it, I will look into possibly modifying it with a PC case fan to see if that helps.

The alarm worked on it.

The sound quality was pretty cheap and the fact that the disc player dies in a few weeks.

We purchased it on 4/27/02 and the disc player stopped working on 5/25/02. It was playing a disc and it suddenly skipped, put in another disc and it said no disc and won't play any disc at all. I am not happy with this at all. What a waste of money and time. I have owned Fisher products in the past and this is a cheap product for the name.

At first look this unit is ahead of its time. A space saving unit with big sound. Unfortunately Fisher has fallen flat on their face in its execution. CD stability during playback is extremely poor. It will skip for no apparent reason on some tracs and will not play other disc at all. When those same disc were put to the test in other units they played without flaw. Fisher suffered a poor reputation years ago but they had regained it. Now thanks to some bean counter at Fisher they manufacture these units in mainland China. They moved production to a country with a poor quality track record, a work force being paid a terrible wage so as to maximize Fisher profits. I have no problem with making a profit but to do so at the expense of your companys reputation for quality is unacceptable. Those in Fisher who decided to source from China should be quickly shown the door and manufacturing should commence in a country with a proven track record such as Japan or even the USA. I have two of these units and they will be shipped back to the dealer. Until you get your act together, good bye Fisher:(

i bought this system off of ubid (first mistake)for $99
+20shipping (note this unit is a refurb). after i ordered it, i realized that the unit didnt come with a remote. that limited my wall mounting locations, since i couldnt change any functions that i couldnt reach. turns out, ubid didnt send my wall mounting brackets so i couldnt mount them anyways....
other than that, cd player was very touching and didnt always play cd-r's. also the volume would occasionally go up all by itself - if i wasnt in my office to catch it rising it would get very loud within a matter of seconds...
needless to say, i returned this unit and will never buy one again...also i will think twice before buying from ubid.
