    Strength:

kick ass bass, clear sound, and totally LOUD!!!

    Weakness:

none that i kan cum up with..

This stereo system is totally worth the $$ that it costs to purchase it. The sound is pure and crisp and the bass will simply blow you away!!. Thought it seems to me built in subs of any minisystem, even this one seems a little less stronger than one seperated sub that is on the ground. But all in all the sound that comes out of these speakers are sometimes enough that my neighbors call and tell me to tune it down!. The other features that come with this stereo are also kool.. things like the rolling panel, programmable radio makes buying this stereo more worth it. Suprisingly on a side note when i was buying this stereo the mxj-900 wasent what i 1st ordered but instead i oredered the mxj700 the slighly smaller version of the 900. But since overstock.com somehow shipped the better model to me i didnt complain a bit!!.. since this is a 400 watt system (compared to 350 on the mxj700)...but all in all i give this system a perfect score for anybody who wants a personal stereo system for there room... it can even pass for the living rooms system. Its a very strong and clear system (and thats an understatment)!!

    Strength:

    Clarity, Power, Bass (TONS), POWER!!!

    Weakness:

Those cheap Japanese pieces of plastic all over it. Useless waste of space. THATS IT THO!

At first I wasn't expecting much.

I mean, it's a minisystem. Not much power.

THEN I TRIED THIS BABY OUT AND HOLY SMOKE! I cranked it and the sound was SO clear and the bass shook crap off of my wall!

    NICE STUFF!

    Strength:

Bass is much deeper than most mini, thus gives longer hearing range. Volume can be turn up loud with clarity. Taping quality is good, custom setable equalizer. Rolling panel. Looks cool.

    Weakness:

The price could've been better. The bass tends to get over-shadowed by the main speakers. See review.

Overall, this minisystem is great and certainly one of the most powerful(loud) ones. As others have mentioned, the bass is great due to the dual 8 inch subs each pumping out 150 watts. However, the bass is not the best, this is the main point in my review.
The bass that comes out from this machine is different from that of other minis. It's much deeper - 30 HZ(very im[ressive for a minisystem), comaring to 55 - 60 HZ that subs on most mini can produce. This is suppost to give bone shaking bass, that can trvel a long distance(like that idiot in the shaky car that you can feel a mile away). This deep frequency is also one of the weakness of this system.

Although the amps are powerful - 300watt for the bass amp, it's not strong enough to drive these rather large subs to good level. Why do I say this? because if you do a side by side comparison with a Panasonic, you can barely hear the bass from this JVC, it just isn't loud enough to be heard, but you can tell it's much deeper than the Panasonic can pump out(it should be mentioned that the Panasonic was 200 watts - half of this JVC). But when you move away from the two systems, to about 30 feet or so, the JVC really begins to shine. At this distance, all you can hear from the Panasonic's small subs(6.25 inch) are simple drum beats, while the JVC delivers deep, continoues bass.

So what does this tell about the bass - it's good if you want others to hear the bass but not yourself, like trying to annoy your neighbors - or your parents. If you want to hear the bass loud(the kind that makes your ears feel numb), then get a minisystem with a small sub like Panasonics and Sharps(the ones with subs). A minisystem just isn't powerful enough to drive big, deep subs. It reminds me of my brother, when he got an amp too weak for his 15 inch sub. You could hear the deep bass, but it was too weak. He then put on a 12 inch sub and the bass was much louder, but not as deep. Later, he went and got a 1000 watt amp and hooked it to the 15 incher, oh man, it shook the shingles off our house!

Other good things about this system include - very clear sounds, and much higher sound levels than my Sharp(guess the sound can reach well over 100 db). Taping quality is very good, to the untrained ear it sounds like a real studio produced tape(you know how the $20 tape recorders record with all those noises). The dual amp connection is cool but takes longer to connect.

In conclusion - good system, price a bit high. Bass very deep but not loud enough. Any questions or disagreement email me at rrjeff@aicompro.com.

    Weakness:

For the money you are getting one great system that will impress you. I searched around online and found it for only 330 including shipping, so i really lucked out. Even if you do pay the store price of $450, you will still be getting a deal. The 2 8" (150 watts each) really pound out the kind of bass that will shake the whole house. And the 2 main speakers (50 watts each) bring out some of the clearest highs that you are going to find at anywhere near this good of price. One of these days these companies will decided to put wire terminals on the back of the speakers so you don't have to deal with connecting wires for expandibility. The only real weakness of this system is the poorly designed cd changer which takes about 10 seconds when switching between cd's due to the triple tray design. From the minute you take this system out of the box, you are going to see its design and say this is going to sound awsome, and you will be soooo right!!!!!

    Weakness:

when loading CD the unit makes loud C-L-L-L-L-K !!!

This is the best mini you can buy, it's loud, it's clear and it got the BASS !!! With 8 step idenpendent subwoofer control, you can tune in to your exact taste. The bass is strong even at low volumn. Make sure you have enough "depth" on your desk or shelf though, the speakers are huge!! If you were to ask me list out what I love the most, it would be ....
    1. BASS BASS BASS!!! (150x2=300 watt from the 2 sub)
    2. the rolling panel, and the cool LCD display
    3. Loudness (400 watt is very loud, waaay more than enough for my room)
    4. the look, these speaker look much better than the little pic up top, check out a better pic Here ->

    THINKING...

Being around alot of audio equipment (dad works in media), this system is a great, clean system. For 400 dollars the audio is very clean. The audio is very clean even through the tape deck. The bass is incredible, enough to bring down the house.

Okay Im gettin back to you. When I first opened the package and Turned it on I wasnt to impressed. All it took was a little listening too and the speakers just had to get worked in. The bass is alright . My brother has a stereo and it's bass is way better then mine and all he has is a Sharp(it has 2 8' subs) They Pound pretty good. The sound is Very clear, even at a high volume. I would recommend this mini system to any one that is looking for some power. Give it some time.

    Great sound
    Clean and loud bass
    GOOD price ($320 US).
    Good looks
    Good features

    Weakness:

    Needs a little more power.
400W listed on the JVC site is rated at a high level of THD.
Kinda Big, doesn't bother me, but may bother others.

The JVC-MXJ900 has been great so far. I use it to DJ with at home. Unfortunately, something from the speakers has been causing some sort of interference with my turntables. As a result, I've been hearing some rumbling even when the record is stopped. It FINALLY stopped today, but I'm sure it will creep up again in the future. Other than that, when playing CD's, the system sounds GREAT, GOOD volume with no distortion. The base is loud, tight and clean. I wouldn't really call these "sub-woofers" real sub-woofers, because they really don't hit low enough or hard enough. (what do you expect from a $320 minisystem though?) The bass does sound good though and the sound is better than any mini-system in it's price range by a GREAT margin. I highly recommend this stereo to anyone looking for BIG SOUND at a low price.
