Strength:
Dolby Digital, compact package.
Weakness:
Sub is wimpy, but improves with placement manipulation. Can't adjust individual frequencies. This unit is a complete package for a low price ($300 at Costco). Ideal for small rooms (like mine). Dolby Digital sound, 3 disc changer, six speakers. Hard to beat if you're on a budget. Similar Products Used: none. |

Strength:
Low price, all in one system
Weakness:
Weak subwoofer, very weak speakers This is a great package for people not wanting to spend a lot of money. You won't have to buy speaker wires, receiver, subwoofer, and speakers. This is a great package because it comes with everything you need for instant home dolby digital sound. Quality of the sound is ok, because if you stand next to the speakers, you can pretty much hear some hissing sound. Subwoofer won't shake your room. If turn to maximum volume, sounds seems to be somewhat muddy, especially the bass. One of the few packages that has everything for a price of slightly under $400. This makes an excellent system for your bedroom or dorm. I would definitely not recommend this for living room or any larger rooms. Similar Products Used: Aiwa bookshelf with dolby digital |

Strength:
All in one configuation, Dolby Digital Reciever
Weakness:
No way of adding an external sub. I must admit that when I bought this product I was a little skeptical, I wouldn't advise anyone going out and buying this system with the idea of shaking the roof, it just isn't like that. |

Strength:
Crisp Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, inexpensive
Weakness:
Weak subwoofer, awkward controls, ugly as sin I can't help but rave about this system, just because it's so rare to find true Dolby digital 5.1 sound in an inexpensive minisystem. Front, center and surround speakers sound great, very crisp sound for both movies and music. However, the subwoofer is quite underpowered, and adds only a little bass to the overall sound of the unit. But, I happened to already have a separate powered subwoofer hanging around! True, this system has no "proper" sub out (coax-type cable) but I just connected regular speaker wire from sub-out to my own sub and now I have rich, deep bass sounds. I still recommend this unit for folks who don't have their own separate subwoofer just for the cool surround effect when watching DVD's. The controls take some getting used to, and the unit has a cheap plasticy look and feel, but it's the cheapest Dolby Digital system you'll find. |
