Strength:
Best package deal with Video 5.1 channel for the price
Weakness:
Mid-range frequencies could have been better. A sub-woofer is also requrired for real bass. With a sub-woofer, this system gives out real oomps Similar Products Used: Panasonic, JVC |

Strength:
The price, clarity and looks
Weakness:
Remote control I listened to a few AIWA models, a couple of Sony’s and a couple of JVCs (mostly 5-speaker DPL). The AIWA, Sony and JVC all had the same general sort of 'sound type' with the JVC being best of these lot. The SONY had a different feel to its overall sound. It had a sound clarity that appeared to me as more of a pricey, high-end separate system. Although I am not Audiophile, although I should say that I have good ears for good and original music, I am sure that with this system you will hear all the treble, violins, trumpets and female vocals than various others similar systems. SONY do have noticeably more detail than the others. It appeared to be better for all types of music (especially classical) except perhaps for things along the lines of rap. The Hall DSP mode is very good and with it the real bass or treble pops out though the FM tuner doesn't pull in weak signals as well as a separates tuner. Similar Products Used: JVC, AIWA, Onkyo |

Strength:
Great sound for a reasonable price, easy set-up and connection to TV/VCR for surround sound.
Weakness:
Lacks strong bass. Subwoofer is reccomended. I have had other Sony stereos and have yet to find any product that can beat there sound for the price. This system is no different. Once I hooked it up I could not believe how wonderful movies sounded. You have the option to hook up DVD 5.1 which really completes this system. I have noticed this model is now available with the Sony SAW-305 Subwoofer. Unless you already own a subwoofer I reccomend you purchase the system with the SAW-305. The price difference is minimum and you will appreciate the addition of the subwoofer as this system does lack in strong sounding bass. I will rate this with 4 stars but would probably go with 4 if I had purchased the unit with the subwoofer. Similar Products Used: JBL, Sony |

Strength:
Cheap, all-in-one, cool looks, 5.1 Dolby Digital Ready, Can really shake my room with my added sub. This system rocks
Weakness:
When using my Sony DVD with 5.1 decoder, if the system is turned up too loud, it "clicks" in and out. Really anoying. Other than that, no problems This is a great system and I recommmed it to younger buyers with a smaller room to fill up. Similar Products Used: none |
