Strength:

Clean sound, good base without a subwoofer. Volume range is impressive.

Weakness:

Remote control. the size of speakers is not proportional to the system.

I am not an audiophile but after listening to Dennon, Sony, JVC, I think the Yamaha E150 sounds the best. It sounded even better at home. The looks is clean and simple, the size is a bit bulky.

Strength:

Small, compact. Nice power and great sound.

Weakness:

Disc error won't clear.

I was ready to give this system a 5 however, recent developments have caused me to change my mind. After less than 2 months' of use, this system will not play a CD. I get a "01 check" error message and I cannot clear it even after pulling the plug on the unit. Before it broke, it was a nice system. Decent power, clean sounding and very nice looking.

Strength:

Subwoofer out, crisp sound, diminutive size. Fantastic range of volume and audio capability.

Weakness:

Fugly remote control (replaced by Universal SR-9000), utilitarian appearance compared to Denon and Nakamichi.

Clean, clean, clean. I compared this with the Nakamichi and Denons in the same class and NOTHING came close to the clean unadultered sound reproduction of the musical instruments of the Yamaha.

Strength:

Working within the limitations of this type of system, it offers clean sound, ample power, and very nice styling, at a very reasonable price.

Weakness:

Remote is not the best layout, but this is Yamaha, it is expected.

First off, I am spoiled. When I put a B&W Nautilus system in my living room, I got accustomed to very clean, detailed sound from a good transparent speaker. However, I needed a stereo for my fish room, and didnt want to spend a fortune. I looked at several models from Denon, Onkyo, nakamichi, JVC, etc. The Yamaha system offered excellent sound for this size/type of system at a very reasonable price. The sound is very clean, build quality seems good, and to top it off, it comes in an atttractive package. While the Denon system with mission speakers was very close, I am very happy with my Yamaha decision. If you are looking for a mini system under $500, I would highly recommend it. It''s sound is much better than many more expensive units.
