Strength:

Well crafted, sharp looking, great surge protection, very clean sound.

Weakness:

None found at the time.

This unit is a well crafte piece. It improves the sound a noticeable amount. The price is excellent and the warranty can't be beat. $100,000 on eqipment connected to it and unlimited warranty on the actual unit. The HTS-2500 is a very good way to protect your investment and clean it up at the same time. I recommend it.

Strength:

Look, value

Weakness:

None that I can find.

Got this from HiFiforless.com for 169.90. (ebay). I noticed an immediate improvement in sound quality (Highs and Lows) My crappy little fronts (technics) actually do have woofers!!! I'll be upgrading those to PSB silver-i, but that's another review.

System:
Pioneer VSX26TX
Pioneer DVF727 301DVD
Altec Lansing THX surrounds
Better Cables on the good pieces
That's all the serious stuff. You don't want to know the rest of the crap, but like I said, I'm building as I go :)...

Strength:

Good power filtering, leading to better sound/video. This is very noticeable.

Weakness:

Build could be better, no IEC power cord (if you care)

It reduced the 'hash' noise in the treble. Tightened up the bass. Because of this you can hear more detail. Highs are sweeter and microdynamics are more noticeable. Soundstage also has improved I think. I preferred this model over the HTS2000 because of the rack component design while still having the same innard of the HTS2000 which got a good review from Absolute Sound. Some people using other higher models think there might be 'too' much filtering in them, to the point of hurting the sound. So this seems to be a good middle of the road model. Basically, this gadget has made me a believer in power line conditioning. Power cables also may make a difference. You need a thicker guage and good shielding in them only and you dont have to spend big bucks for it. I think that power conditioning is now a must for any system, starting with any decent receiver, int amp, pre-amp/amp to high-end. Highly recommended. Check out www.globe-mart.com for good prices.

Strength:

Solid build, lots of connections, timed/switched outlets, $100,000 warranty, up to 1800joule surge protection.

Weakness:

Slight to non-existent improvement in audio/video quality

When i finally realized that I had a $6,000 Home Theater system plugged into a $15 Surge Protector, I decided to look for a better Surge Protector that can give me the piece of mind I need to not worry about spikes ruining my system (Spikes in the electrical current were blowing the fuses on my Klipsch KSW-12's amp). So i started researching the web for reviews and features on good surge protectors. My local Hi-Fi stores recommended Panamax wholeheartedly and according to the reviews here MonsterCable was also a favorite so I was down to those two in my decision. I finally decided on this model because of the price as compared to the Panamax and the positive reviews of its lesser model (HTS-2000) as opposed to the Panamax 1000+. Well after plugging it in I can tell you that two things happened. First, the cable feed to my TV cleaned up just a bit (Anything better than what i have now is good), and second audio sounds a tad more subdued and laid back with rolled off highs and tighter bass. Of course due to this soundstage suffered a bit but I do not blame the Monster. My cables are cheap Monster's and I'm sure that upgrading to better cables will get my soundstage back and give me that warm tight sound I look for in my music. For $169 this piece cannot be better. It does everything I expected it to do and it even improved my Cable feed and I am sure cleaned up my electrical power. Also, I enjoy greatly that it has switched/timed outlets so that when I turn on the receiver my subwoofer turns on and so does my CD Player which has no remote power on/off button.
