Strength:

Major improvement to sonics

Weakness:

Very oddly shaped, requiring rear placement, runs hot, needs room to breath

I have a considerable hi-fi set-up. My main speakers are a pair of Triabgle Zays. Wonderful, but I wondered if I was missing anything. In my quest to upgrade the speakers I settled on the Merlin VSM - 4X the cost of my Zays (with premium finish). My dealer lent me a demo pair to audition at home. The PS 300 came at the time. I will be returning the Merlins. The addition of the powerplant has leveled the playing field. The mids are more crystal and natural, the bass is thunderous, the overall presentation - smoother. The Zays are now on par with the Merlins - even with the BAM! The differences are tonal character, (both are resolving) the Merlins being drier, more analytical, the Zays more transparent, but warmer - more musical to my ears. The powerplant has allowed my premium components to function at their best!

Sony SACD 777ES to Perpetual Technologies PA1/P3A- Monlithic P3 through Musical Fidelity NuVista M2 integrated amplifier. Cabling by DH Labs premium line.

Addition of the powerplant negates my need to purchase new speakers, for now.

Strength:

After 50 reviews, you gotta believe that it's THAT good.
I just got one......it is THAT good.

Weakness:

Inflicts desire upon user to 1)buy it immediately 2)tell two friends about it 3)post hasty reviews

Believe the hype; it's well documented ad nauseum below. Just audition one and start budgeting now.

I want to add, I hope, a few insightful points:

1. Everyone says this thing gets hot. With my cd and pre in it (after 5 hrs. of listening), it was mild at best.

2. Like one of the reviewers just below, I promptly plugged my stinkin' amp into this P300. Net result: real fine audio.
Yeah, then the P300 got hot - but no more than my amp. I was listening at a decent volume, too. The readout never went abobe 80/90. CD,pre and amp in it.....I was pleasantly surprised.

Just go get one and stop reading how everyone else BUT YOU thinks this thing rules.....

Strength:

Awesome build quality, fantastic sound, works as adverstised

Weakness:

None so far

The P300 Power Plant is a must have if you want the best sound your system can deliver. It is not a line conditioner, it is an AC re-generator and it does amazing things to your power coming from the wall. The Multi-wave settings are great. I'm currently using SS-5 which is giving me a nice wide soundstage and incredible depth. I have never heard my system sing like this. I also use a PS Audio Ultimate Outlet for my receiver and sub. IMHO PS Audio is the king in power accessories for your stereo or home theater systems. Give it a try in your system, Music Direct offers free UPS Ground shipping and a 30 day money back gurantee!!!

Sony SCD-777ES SACD player
Linn LP-12 Valhalla turntable
Panasonic RP-91 DVD/AUDIO player

Strength:

appears to be very well built- company appears to be very customer oriented

Weakness:

dern if I can't hear a bit of difference in the sound of my system. Also it is not recommended for amps over 50 WPC

System:
NAD silverline CD
Creek passive pre-amplifier
Creek Phono pre-amp
Dynaco 150 WPC high current power amplifier
Boston Acoustics VR-970 speakers
Infinity 250 W powered Subwoofer w. parametric eq.
MMF 9 Turntable w. Grado Gold Cartridge.

I have only had this for one day. I bought it because of glowing reviews I read here. But I can hear no difference in sound with P300 installed and powering system. And I am a very fussy listener. Maybe will return and save money for tube amp or DAC upgrade...

I've been using power planet 300 for a while. I used it to power Krell KRC3 preamp and Krell KAV300 CD player. My Krell FPB 600 was plugged in direct to the wall outlet. The speaker is B&W Nautilus 801. To get the better sound from the power planer, I have been switching around the power factor between 80 to 120. For AC frequency 80 or 90, I got more bass and body of midrange but sacrified the treble quality. For 120, the trebel was better defined but the sound is lean and lack of the midbass body. Recently, I upgrade it to the multiwave ($250). So far, I olny used SS1 and PS2 settings. I found SS1 give the most dynamic and biggest soundstage sound. PS2 is smoother but is not as dynamic and has narrower soundstage. Both SS1 and PS2 make my system sound better than without the multiwave upgrade.
The sound is much more transparent, much more dynamic and much more details. It's hard to believe the difference. Also, the sound in not lean anymore. Both trebel and bass were extended. Even the low bass has the resolution. (No more one note bass). The treble is also quite smooth. (PS2 is smoother than SS1). I would recommend multiwave very highly to original power planet users. Just one thing, don't turn on the powerplaner after you have plugged in all the source components. My Krell KAC300CD has one resistor burned when I did that. The correctly way is to turn on the powerplanet first, and then plug in your source components. This avoid the surge current from the power planet.
After several months of using powerplanet and few days after the multiwave upgrade, I think powerplant is a wonderful thing in my system. I won't live without it.

There’s been a killing. The noise floor is buried six feet deep in the basement.

Uncontrolled rapturous laughter was my first reaction listening with the PS
Audio Power Plant added. This isn’t possible! I listen closer... awe,
tingles. Has my system really just made this quantum leap?

It certainly has. This past weekend with my PS-300 changed my whole
perspective. The concept of regenerated AC is so obvious, and the integration
of DSP power frequency control such genius, that you have on your hands a
product that leaves all other power conditioners back in the last millennium.
My system is suddenly so vastly improved that I've refocused my attention to
room acoustics and treatment thereof.

The sound? The hidden depth, the true 3D soundstage, the ambiant cues, just got
switched on. Crystal focus, the palpable body and weight of the instruments are
in the room, the air surrounding each uncanny! Improved bass articulation,
intricate micro-dynamics, and dissolution of grain make me incredulous.

The 120 Hz setting raises my transport & DAC to a level of performance I had no
idea they were capable of. Powered at 120 Hz the musicality of my system is up
a class and a half, infused with perfect pace and seemingly increased
resolution. My amplifier has doubled in quality and capacity, and it’s not even
plugged into the Power Plant!

Now, given the staggering improvement with just the front end conditioned my
first thought was that the amp doesn’t need it after all. But with what I’m
hearing now, what if it was? What if it was...

This is my system with a line conditioner? Oh, no it’s not. This is a whole
new ballgame.

The Power Plant totally transformed my system. It is hard to describe the change in words. Basically it made stereo playback much closer to live music. Enough said. I have tried a number of reputed power line conditioners, some of them made audible improvements, but none of those could even give a hint about what P300 can do.
System: Sony DVPs7000->AA DTI Pro32/DDE3.0->A.I. M3A preamp->Spectron Digital One->Gallo Nucleus Reference speakers and REL Storm subwoofer. P300 was used to power CD transport, DTI/DAC and preamp. All interconnects and speaker cables are made of solid core silver from Silver Audio.

I have been upgrading my systems' power conditioner for the past few months. Since I live in Tampa, lightning strikes are a big concern. I originally started out with a Panamax 1000+ which offered all the outlets I needed, but deflated the sound of my Martin-Logan reQuests and it didn't condition my DSS. So, I upgraded to the Monster HTS 3500. On the surface, it had the cable & DSS peace of mind that I was looking for, as well as all the outlets I could ever ask for. But alas, I still wasn't satisfied with the dynamics of the Martin-Logans.

Enter the PS Audio P300. In a word it is nothing less than "STUPENDOUS". The magic has finally been unlocked and I am finally satisfied with where I'm at with my personal search for musical perfection.

I cannot begin to express how much the sound of my very high end system has been improved. I was wandering the plains of high-end stereo/home-theater searching for the next "great tweak" and where did it come from? -- the power source. How elementary!

Paul McGowen of PS Audio suggested to tweak the voltage of my P300 up to about 125 volts from the normal 117 as a way to make electrostatic speakers come alive. The effect has been truly eye-opening.

Is the P300 perfect? No, it cannot protect my DSS & Cable signal (so I still have the 3500 hooked up) and I can only plug in items that drain up to 300 watts of power. For me that means: Pre-amp, DVD, DAC, 2 Martin-Logan reQuests and Sony A4 Satellite receiver. It's a shame that I cannot hook up more than what I listed above but the 300 can only handle that much power.

I plan on getting a bigger Power Plant in the near future to handle all of my AV gear. But for now I am the happiest guy in the world.
