Strength:
Great, wide range sound quality
Weakness:
Seems to be delicate - I took very good care of this unit, never dropped it, never jostled it yet twice an intermittent failure sent it back to the shop for repair. I have used an earlier version of this model for on-the-road recording and it certainly has great sound quality when working! |

Strength:
Easy to use, stands up well so long as it is not abused, half speed setting, less expensive to repair then the pmd222(the 222 has a direct XLR input)
Weakness:
The newer models ( I beleive they are 2000 and later - possibly earlier) compress the audio too much when using the limiter setting. They also tend to distort more easily then the older models especially when using normal bias tapes. The newer built in speakers do not sound as crisp and do not handle the volume as well as the previous models. Overall it is still the best portable cassette recorder on the market I've been using these decks since their inception. Great for portable recording applications. This deck is the industry standard. Has all the inputs, outputs and accessories needed for professionals and novices. Similar Products Used: pmd201, pmd222 |
