When it does work the sound is adequate for audio books. The radio gets more stations in our home location than the non-portable radio in our house.

Besides having trouble recognizing when a CD is present, the HOLD button is loose and flips into position at just about any time. The volume dial is scratchy when being adjusted, but does work.

Purchased over the internet. The first one I received did not work at all. Gave the company the benefit of the doubt and sent the first one back to be replaced. Paid the return mail fee. The second one arrived and I should have sent it back right away because it was not reliable reading a CDb,it worked well enough with some persistence to be able to read my audio books. It no longer is able to detect a CD when it is in place. I originally ordered this particular player because it was described as being tough and could handle being used while running or doing other sports activities. Should have realized if the first one didn't work at all and then the second had problems running at rest - this was not going to be useful for my lifestyle. I am really persistent and have tried very hard to get this to work for me. It doesn't and has soured me on Coby products.

Customer Service

They were willing to work with me but it would have cost almost as much as buying a new player to send 2 of their products back to them. Once was enough.
