Panasonic SL-SX270 CD Players Portable

Panasonic SL-SX270 CD Players Portable

DESCRIPTION

This Panasonic metallic silver personal CD player is a basic way to enjoy your CD music. It has anti-shock protection to counter bumps and jolts, and the standard extras you look for in a good CD player, such as random play and auto power-off. It goes for hours on batteries, and has rechargable capability for special batteries. For quality sound and portability, look no further than the Panasonic personal CD player.

Strength:

anti-skip buffer

Weakness:

Can't play CD-Rs! Slightly tinny sound. Erratic operation

I got this player with high hopes, but I'm disappointed. First, the sound is slightly tinny. Treble is a little harsh and exaggerated.

Second, this player cannot play CD-Rs. I have a 10 year old component CD player that has no problems with CD-Rs. I have a 5 year old minisystem that has no problems with CD-Rs. I have a 5 year old portable CD player that has no problems. Panasonic clearly has a problem with a faulty design.

Third, the player's function is a little erratic. Sometimes, pressing stop will for some reason cancel the resume function, and sometimes it won't. Sometimes the player will know if you've changed CD's, sometimes it won't. It's very inconsistent and hardly the reliability that I've come to know and expect from Panasonic.

Fourth, the resume function isn't very good. The player will resume from the start of the last song played, but will not resume from exactly where you left off.

There are better players out there for the money. I myself think the Aiwa XP-V716C is a great player for the money.

Strength:

Durability - Long battery life - good sound for a portable

Weakness:

None under the portable constraints

I'm surprised at how well this unit has held up. The sound is quite acceptable for a portable cd player and sounds quite good even with higher end headphone in the $180.00CDN price point. The anti shock memory is solid and longer than most players in this price point.

The long lasting battery life is exceptional as this was a major problem with my previous Sony. Expect 25 - 30 hours with anti shock ON using Energizer or Duracell.

I even dropped it a few times and has not hurt it...though I would be as carefull as possible. The small size is a nice advantage and fits into many inside coat pockets.

This is a good value player...the rest only add features ... so you may as well keep it simple.
