Strength:

slim profile, 40 sec anti shock

Weakness:

unreliable

I am on my second unit of this product and it has recently failed me after roughly one year. My first unit lasted three weeks before it stopped playing discs. Fortunately, I was still in the 30 day return period so I got another one. If this product was more reliable, it would be a clear 5-starrer; the slim profile is really great, I can comfortably slip it into the front pockets of most of my pants.

Strength:

Nice clean sound, nice tuner.

Weakness:

Pre-set tone controls are useless. Tuner presets don't save your FM Reception City/Normal preference.

Great player. I have the SL-SX469V, and it has been great so far. The 469V has a tuner, which is really quite good. I teamed it up with a $100 pair of Grado SR-80s and the sound is great. I only use the included headphones when I don't want to damage the Grados. Sound starts getting strained if I pump the amp, but that's getting to the level of hearing damage anyhow.

Strength:

Cool sound, Small, Reliable, 40 sec memory, Unstoppable !

Weakness:

None

This is the only portable CD player one should even consider. As usual, Sony didn't make anything interesting (theirs doesn't take burned CDs).

The sound on the Panasonic is terrific. I didn't even try the included headphones : I have Sennheisers HD340, and the couple works great.

About the guy who plugs Sennheiser 580's in this player, you should really use an amp. The amp in any portable CD player will be quite wimpy when trying to drive such hi-end headphones.

I will put the best mark to this litthe thingy which puts so much emotion into mobile music. Plus, with two batteries, it lasts countless hours.

Strength:

lightweight excellent antishock system, excellent battery life. reasonably good sonics for this value packed on the go cd player

Weakness:

I concur with other reviewer about the bass and the live control...could have been better executed here

Yikes!! I needed a CD portable quick....what to do?? I went to "FRYS"( a local electronics chain here in California) and spent about $100.00 and picked up this cd player. I was pretty impressed with its features and sound. The external power module for 2 "AA" batteries on top of the Ni Cad cells make long listening of this little cd an appreciated reality. A boon for you "frequent fliers" out there, and those who like to hear their music but don't have access to a wall plug. The sound is mixed bag here, but mostly on the good side. The bass and live settings are laughable at best, but the bass boost helps when I use this cd in the car.For headphone listening I bypass all the effects goodies on this cd player. The headphones that came with this cd player are hideous sounding, but I expected that from the start,so no slam on Panasonics part on this. I used my Sennheiser HD-580s and was reasonably entertained with my favorite cds' without complaint. I like the fact that the anti-shock is a generous 40 seconds. Great for those bumpy car rides and jogs you might be doing. The controls are abit small and could be bigger I think. Same with the display, but at least the characters inside are readable. I would be silly to think that this cd player portable could compete with my home rigs..it can't,but for the bucks I paid, and its' good performance,I could have done allot worse. Overall, good sounds for a "portable", and the antishock makes it better and the long playing time without a wall power source a big plus. A very good combination I think, especially when you consider the price.
A great bargain indeed.

Strength:

Lightweight, slim, awesome antishock, very sharp looking.

Weakness:

Headphones sucked, and the preset EQ's sucked too.

This CD player is the best I've ever had. Ever. It's better than a 250 buck Sony model I had a year and a half ago, that had comparable features. The design is incredible slim, and it's easily fittable into a pocket even. The blue colour on mine has elicited nothing but favorable comments.

The antishock is the best I've used, period. Sound is clear and uncluttered, but bass response could be improved. The EQ's suck. The extra bass is too muddled, and the extra treble is too tinny. The only other feature this player could use would be a lock on the open button to ensure the player stays closed.
