Strength:

Great sound quality, durable build, powerful amp to drive headphones

Weakness:

May skip with ESP when batteries run low.

I've had this player for three years and it's worked well the whole time, which is something to say about a portable. I've compared it's sound quality to current portables from various brands and nothing has it beat. It sounds as good as a decent home cd player under 200 bucks. It's got a powerful 12mW amp that DOES get plenty loud with efficient headphones; most current portables have 5mW amps which are pitifully sad and weak. It doesn't look like it, but this thing has stood up to a lot of abuse. I've dropped it plenty of times over the years and almost had a heart attack worrying it fit would work, but I would pick it up and everything worked same as before. The lid once popped off and I thought that it was the end of it, but the hinge was still there and the lid snapped right back on.

This player was made back when portables were tough and sounded good. Now portables sacrifice sound quality for battery life and skip protection and sacrifice a strong build for a small and light (and ultimately fragile) build.
