Strength:

SIZE, MD LINK

Weakness:

SKIP PROTECTION, BATTERY LIFE, MD LINK TURNS OFF ESP, NO LISTING ON HOW MANY SECONDS ESP2 MEANS

Run, don't walk away from this unit. Only buy this unit if it is on sale and you need it for the MD Link. I use this player to record minidisc on my portable sharp recorder. It was on sale in Philly for $50 and I couldn't pass it up since I needed and optical output for my Sharp Recorder. Sony should be ashamed of the skip protection on this unit. It was listed on the package as ESP2. The package wouldn't list how many seconds ESP2 represents, from use while walking I would guess 2 seconds. This player skips all the time. You can't walk with it(much less run), the only use I have is the minidsic. I next bought the Panasonic SL-SW850.
I am very satisfied with the panasonic. I haven't had a skip yet(and I jog with it). I guess you get what you pay for.
The Battery life is about 12-15 hours. One problem I have is the Optical output cancels the ESP, so if you are recording a scratched disc you are out of luck.

Great cd player, put it in your pocket or backback and don't worry about it skipping or buttons getting pressed...
