Strength:
Bass Boost is nice. And the variety of play options is a big plus
Weakness:
ESP^2 is not all that on this model. Durability bites Well I bought this thing, and have had it for less than a month. Only thing I can say about it, is that I'm not very happy with the product. I'm actually going to go return it today. The durability of the thing just sucks. Of course the extent of punishment I give it is that it sits in my car as my car's CD player. So basically whatever bumps and jumps my car does, is the action the CD player sees. Well after the first week, I had to go exchange the damn thing because it had problems of reading between tracks (i.e. it wouldn't go to track two after finishing track one). After I exchanged it, the thing was working okay, until like another week went by, where noise started to be added to the sound, and then hardcore skipping took place. The accessories that came with it is nice, but I really don't think I'd recommend anyone buying this thing. I know it's not my CD, because I keep my CD's in good condition. (I don't use a CD caddy, (those things scratch the CD hardcore), I only carry my CD's in their original cases. CD goes directly into it's case when I'm done with it.) If you see this model go on sale, don't buy it. It isn't worth the money you'll be putting into it. Just my two cents. |

Strength:
Slim profile, good/loud bass output, plays scratched CD's/CD-R's
Weakness:
Fragile/breakable, poor button layout, skips easily with ESP, very unreliable This product is a flop. While it sounds great to me (I'm used to Sony's over-bright sound and MegaBass), there are a million things wrong with this player. For one, the volume control is situated in a moderately hard-to-reach place. The rechargeable batteries that came with the player stopped charging after two months (not necessarily the player's fault). The ESP works poorly; even with shock protection on, the CD skips with a slight twist of the player. None of these problems are evident with my older Sony Discman. But the real problem has to do with the unreliability of the player. For some reason, Sony decided to use a really fragile cable to connect the buttons and display on the lid to the main body of the player. Every time the lid is opened, this cable is pinched. Within months of buying this player, the display started to fail, the buttons no longer responded, and the machine would start adjusting its own volume at random times. It was a very unwise move of Sony to use such a fragile ZIF-style cable, and then string it through the player so it gets pinched, broken, and cut through. It makes a 4-star player into a 1-star.
