Strength:

Tight clean bass, size, sound and most of all the price.

Weakness:

I didn't buy more than 1 pair.

These little guys can be used as surround or main speakers for smaller recievers. I can push all of the 100wpc and they do not distort. They of course can't thump like 15"floor speakers but I'm absolutely sure they will out perform any other speaker that cost only $59.00pr.

Strength:

Clarity, lots of sound for a very small speaker.

Weakness:

None, for a speaker its size, it surpassed what would be expected of it.

For a speaker that is about 8 inches high, these things performs miraculously. I needed a small speaker for a home office space, to hook up to a Marantz 2226B with 26W/ch. The Marantz is a bit underpowered, and I was having a problem finding speakers that would perform well with so few watts. I did pay more than the going internet price, but I decided to buy local and give my hi-fi/repair shop the business. These are small enough that they do work well and do not complain from such low wattage. I have them placed in a 12'x12' room and they sound excellent. The detail is much more than what I could reasonably ask from such a small speaker; the bass is surprisingly strong. For their purpose as small speakers, they perform excellently.

Strength:

These tiny speakers have great bass...They even try to handle bass lower than they should!

Weakness:

Tweater is a little weak for my taste...nothing that can't be changed without an equalizer.

I actually paid aproximately twice what I though I was paying, you see, I got confused on the quantity deal on uBid...I know, really stupid. But, these speakers handle the job much better than I thought they would. They are replacing the factory speakers on my Yamaha GX-5 mini-system which I have now found out has great components (excluding the shipping speakers).
I find that the treble is too soft for me because I am used to my BA CR-9s which are very "bright". After fixing up the equalizer, these perform just fine.
The bass in these speakers is impressive, though they can't be played very loudly on most music without endangering the poor little woofer. I found that on this one Moby track (11 on "play") the volume was at 3/4s of what it is normally is and yet the woofer was at full capacity shooting air out of the port which I could feel at up to two feet away! This is HUGE!! I could feel it with my hand VERY well at two feet away. Very impressive excursion. Such a small woofer has to work too hard to try to reproduce such low frequencies... dangerous at higher volume.
These speakers despite their deceptive price (my fault) are worth the money for a small stereo. These are budget speakers and thus are good for a bookshelf or minisystem, but not mains on a big stereo (not powerful enough). I feel a larger speaker from this line would be good for mains though.

Strength:

great clarity for highs and mids, binding post connections, cool looking, great price...you can get these for as little as $45 bucks.

Weakness:

of course bass response a bit on the weak side.

Great speakers for the money. They were noticibly better in performance than the Yamaha bookshelfs I had. I cranked up my stereo(Yamaha HTR 5250) to about 3/4 volume and these puppies had no noticible distortion. I really appreciate the binding post connectors for such an economically priced speaker. I just received AR 226psb for fronts in a home theater set-up and I'm now using these as the rears. Fantastic! They voice match perfecly and fill the room incredibly with sound. Way to go AR! I'm now a fan for life!

Strength:

Size, price, clean and clear mids and highs

Weakness:

none really, for a small bookshelf speaker

These are very nice little speakers. They have a soft but clean, smooth, detailed sound. I think I got them on sale, but I see www.jandr.com also sells a pair for $80... which means these are amazing for the price! I should note that they have an interesting uni-cone woofer design and are one of the few AR speakers not to have the 'semi-horn' tweeter design.

I have a pair of CV E-705s which cost more and are loud, but not as clean sounding. I was happy with them at first but decided to upgrade. I compared the AR-215 to the 216 and 226, but actually prefered the sound of the 215, because, surprisingly enough, the AR-216 and AR-226 had too much bass, in the sense that it drowned out other frequencies. The mids and highs on the 215s are crystal clear and blend well together. Actually, the 215s are lacking in low frequency reproduction, but with AR-318 mains and a Klipsch KSW-12 sub, this has not been a problem. On the other hand, who busy bookshelf speakers for bass? These are very small and sound great- perfect rear/bookshelf speakers! If I remember, I also checked out a few pairs of Klipsch and Polk bookshelf speakers. I like soft rather than bright, so the Klipsch didn't win me over. In the end I prefered the sound of the ARs, and to date I am very happy with my purchase!

Strength:

Very good sound, very clear highs..

Weakness:

dosnt come in a cherry finish..

What great speakers, I bought them off ebay for 38 dollars a pair, which is a very good deal!

I hooked them up to my Technics amp, and them fill my room with sound! I would compare them to JBL, or Infinity of comparable size..
