For $550.00 you'll be hard pressed to find a better sounding ENTRY LEVEL BOOKSHELF SPEAKER. It's downright irrational to criticize the 602's for not sounding like a $900.00 pair of speakers. Come on people, you get what you pay for, and for $550.00 the 602's are a great value.

Very disappointed with these. I had these speakers for a month and still can't believe these things get so much hype originally thought the highs would start to sound better with a modest break in time, but haven't changed at all. Bass is just adequate for a bookshelf speaker. Upgraded to Klipsch 10.5's for about the same price and couldn't be happier. I think they actually have a little better high sound and give lots of additional, tight bass. B&W makes some incredible high end stuff, but stay away from them if your not looking to go up to the $1000 a pair price level.

Ok, chalk up another one for the Bowers & Wilkins cause the speakers are d-nating gem nuggets!! I just bought them along with a pair of 601's for surrounds. I upgraded from a pair of DM305's which I must say were decent too. But how could I resist the yellow Kevlar cones!! As Cartman would say oohhh...snaky cakes!? Get down!! I even got to compare them to a pair of BOSE shiz speakers that my roomate has. Uhmmm can you say they're sitting in storage now buah ha ha ha. I performed an A/B speaker test and it was unreal. 602's had a good amount of bass for their size. The sound fills the room up whereas the Bose just sounded dead. I guess I was childish even compared the two. But even my girlfriend, who I wouldn't call remotely close to a casual listener could tell with her eyes close. Just bringin' her one step closer to the audio business. Maybe she'll get me some gear for Chirstmas buah ha ha...like some sweet monster cable. I can't wait to hook these pups up to my new Pioneer Elite receiver. Yeah that's pretty sweet. If you have a choice, get em' I highly recommend them. If your budget is low, get the DM305's!

I am sorry to say that the folks at B&W have finally sold out to the mass production / dime a dozen market. I recently purchased a set of 602's and hate to admit that I did. Here's my story!!
My plan was simple, upgrade my current NHT 1.3's to 1.5's or possibly the 2.5's. The problem came when I met an eager "name is everything" salesman pushing the B&W's. My goal was to get an excellent "Audiophile" grade speaker like I had with my NHT 1.3's.

When shopping the "mid to high end" A/V shops it is very important to remember to listen to many types of your favorite music as well as movies of your choice (if your plans are to use your system for both as I do). This store pushed my decision based on the name(I can tell from some of the reviews that I am not the only one)and not sound quality of the loudspeakers, so I walked out with a shiny new set of 602s2's and the center channel to match.

I can see someone being convinced that the 602's are a great speaker if the last speakers they owned were Audiovox, KLM or BOSE. The mistake I made was only listening to a couple CD's at the A/V shop, then dying to get them home to tell my friends that I own B&W's. I should have known the cuts that would have been made in research, design, and quality to enter the sub $1000 audiophile market.

I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THIS COMPANY DOES NOT FOCUS R&D DOLLARS IN THE $1000 MARKET, instead they put drivers that "look" like the flagship models into a box with a plastic port tube and make money from the name. It is my understanding that B&W doesn't even produce the Kevlar woofer on the 602's.

After setting up my new loudspeakers I began running them through all of the music I enjoyed listening to on the 1.3's, the 602's seemed very dull and lifeless, almost "muffled" if you will. CD after CD it was very prevalent, the imaging was awful, the soundstage almost non-existent.

Now on to a movie, with my matching B&W center channel in place I ran some DD 5.1 movies across the my new boxes. Same issues I had with the digital CD audio showed up in my movie soundtracks.

After a three week time period I luckily was able to return the units to my salesman who now had a great new recommendation :) NHT 2.5's. I spent a little more money than I would have liked but the results were worth it.

To summarize, please don't be sold on a name alone!! B&W, M&K, Krell and many others have excellent products out in the market, please let your ears (not your eyes) make the decision.

:) Steve -

Strength:

Scenery and middles- - Basses!!!!

Weakness:

well...I found none, may be not enough musical weight

Well...The first impression was - Hey, UNBELIEVEBLE! It can't play that way! It's not real! Well..but, it has one con - it doesn't have enough musical weight. So, I placed them on Jamo Studio 180, the floorstands and - great, really great! You know, it sounds unlogical, but they borned immideatly! So, my opinion is - use them with floorstanding speakers. Just place them on and enjoy. Sorry for my english - I am from Russia after all...
I give them all 100 stars, damn selector won't let me..!

Strength:

Clarity; Big sound for a relatively small speakers

Weakness:

a bit harsh when pushed, but not at any "usual" listening level.

These are some of the best-sounding, versatile speakers in their price range. They sound equally good for stereo music and home-theater applications. Build quality is top-notch and the sound is incredible for speakers of this size. Everyone considering speakers of this size and price range should definitely give them a good listen.

AWESOME SOUNDING BOOKSHELFS!!!! Clarity is amazing!!! Bass responsive is GREAT!!

Weakness:

NONE

I am a 15 year old freshmen and i have been brought up with great quality sounding speakers [none of that best buy&circuit city crap] I had a nice sum of money from graduation and would not settle for anything less then B&w speakers afeter hearind my Dad's.. I went to many hifi shops and listened many speakers ,but nothing compares up to B&w quality... Listened to 603's and was very impressed[almost bought them[great bass response], just a tad too deep for my pockets] and decided in the end to get 602's i was afraid that these would not satisfy me after knowing i could get 603's, but not a day goes by i regret buying these wonderful speakers!

ESTOS PARLANTES SON DEFINITIVAMENTE MAGNIFICOS. SE ACOPLAN MEJOR EN CUARTOS DE AUDICION PEQUEÑOS. MI EQUIPO CONSISTE EN UN AMPLICADOR CARVER TFM-42 Y UN CD YAMAHA CDX-1060.
MANEJAN MUY BIEN TODA CLASE DE MUSICA JAZZ, CLASICA, ETC.
SU DINAMICA E IMAGEN ES INMEJORABLE PARA UN PARLANTE DE ESE RANGO DE PRECIO,

LAS VOCES SUENAN CON MUCHA CLARIDAD Y LOS GRAVES ME PARECEN EXCELENTES PARA SU TAMAÑO.
