Strength:
Base and swivel, Incredible handling of ambient "noise" in home theater. Ease of installation on vertical wall.
Weakness:
I've read many reviews and didn't want to admit it but I must agree that the ONLY weakness is the grille. Straight out of the box, the tweeter dome on one speaker was loose. Accompanied by B&W DM303's up front, and an LCR3 in the center, the LM1's complete the best value home theater package available. It's almost an insult to call the LM1's value because in reality, I've listened to many speakers in my day and the LM1's either equal or improve on anything I've heard. Strength:
Clarity and crispnes
Weakness:
None These little speakers are great for a variety of situations. I'm using my pair for my computer sound system. They are mated to the Yamaha RP-U100 (35 wpc)and woking in tandem with the B & W 400 series subwoofer. The sound produced by this setup is astounding. Yes, the setup exceeds $1100, so it should sound darn good. Nearfield, these speakers sound detailed, crisp and offer a surprising soundstage. As with any small speaker, they are weak on the lower frequencies and require a good bit of power. The intergrated stands makes setting up the speakers a snap and the magnetic shielding allows them to be placed near monitors or televisions. I have not used them in any other situation, but I certainly can give these speakers a high score for use as computer speakers. When coupled with the 400 series B & W sub, the sound is VERY impressive indeed. Similar Products Used: Altec Lansing, Bose, Sony |

Strength:
Image
Weakness:
None given it's purpose I have B&W 602S2 in front, B&W CC6 in centre, a DALI 12" woofer and the LM1's as R-surround. Given my other speakers, the LM1's provided a better solution than using 601's because of the size and the placement flexibility. The bass is not there, but that is irrelevant when you have a sub' (which EVERY home-theatre should have.) The image is well defined and the mid-range is perfectly integrated with the S2 speakers. This setup makes my leaving room shake and my neighbours scream. Love it! |

Strength:
Compact, quite efficient and dynamic
Weakness:
Other small quality boxes are better at hi-fi. These are great little lookers which mount on a small swivel stand (duplicating for a wall bracket). The sound is quite punchy and dynamic but not as good as the similarly priced B&W 601 speakers. The advantage of the LM1s is that they're designed as secondary speakers (perhaps kitchen or surround sound) and as such are less fussy about where they sit or are mounted. I wouldn't have these as the main speakers as the sound can be a little congested and flat, but as ones you can hang in another room they are ideal. Similar Products Used: B&W 601 S2 |

Strength:
Compact size, clear, detailed sound
Weakness:
None for this type of product I am using these as computer speakers, driven by an Alesis RA-100. They sound incredible, though they need a sub, so for the meantime I have split off the input from my soundcard to go to the old Cambridge Soundworks computer sub, it actually doesnt sound too bad for what is basically a $39 sub these days, and make the LM1s lower limit of 80Hz quite tolerable... Strength:
Size and design. Sound for the size.
Weakness:
Lacks base for main speakers for listners who need base. I am using the LM-1 as my rear speakers in my HT system. I was looking for something small that could be wall mounted or stand/table top based. I didn't need big base just very clean sound to handle spx from dvd's. I wanted Energy so I could match my fronts but the smallest bookself from energy was alittle to big. When I saw the B&W's and previewed them I knew I had found the right rear speakers for my setup. They have given me great clean sound with the dvd's that I watch. These speakers are a great choice for a HT system (rears) that space is a issue and they would make great front speakers for the same reason (space). |

Strength:
Spouse friendly looks. Very forgiving to room acoustics and placement. Good imaging. Lively Sound. Well suited for DTS 5.1.
Weakness:
No bass (as expected). Requires a subwoofer. Hadn't bought any serious audio/video gear in 15 years (other than replacing tape decks, VCR's, CD players, and phono cartridges). Similar Products Used: Replaces a pair of KEF101's. Listened to every white (Spouse friendly) speaker I could find: Bose AM15, Boston Acoustics System10K, Definitive Technology, Mirage AVS500. |

Strength:
Sounds nice as secondary room system
Weakness:
The grilles!! The grilles are a nuisance problem. Of the 2 I bought, 1 had the grille fall off. When it comes off, you can't put it back in.....it continues to pop out!! I took the speaker back to my dealer who professed to know nothing about the grille problem. The dealer tried to put the grill back on but could'nt make it stay. They had to order a replacement grille from the factory and its been 3 weeks with no response. Needless to say, I'm not happy! Similar Products Used: DefTech |
