People see these advertised and think, "Ooh, Bose for cheap!", and rush out and pick these up. I feel sorry for those people. These things are not worth the $80/pair price tag. The speaker looks very cheap (like a cardboard box), and the sound is horrid. Don't be fooled by the add picture either, they are extremely small. Oh, but what about that famous, awesome sounding "Star Driver" Bose babbles about on their website? I hate to break it to you, but the "Star Driver" in reality is a cheap clockradio-esque speaker that looks like it was splattered with black glue. The 141's sound tinny (big surprise!) and undetailed. The highs are almost non-exsistant, the bass is just not there, and the mids sound extremely muddy. Don't even buy these speakers as a cheap extension into, say, the kitchen. Get a small decent bookshelf speaker from some other brand, like KLH. There is one thing that these speakers have going for them, and that's durability. The clerk at Circuit City told me that everyone in the audio section HATES them, and that they've tried many times, unsuccessfully, to kill the floor models. They've driven them full volume with more power than the speakers can handle, and while doing this have pressed on the speaker so the voice coil won't vibrate. Needless to say, the speakers still sound like they always do (mind you, I didn't listen to this particular pair). You can do much better than this. Do yourself a favor and don't buy these worthless cardboard boxes. High price, horrid quality, overhyped, typical Bose. 1 star. |

Whats up!-Always keep this in mind, you gotta buy the RIGHT speakers for the room in which you plan to use them (and consider range and power). Nonetheless these Bose speakers at the attractive price are all the way around good. Incorporating the "stereo everywhere" techonolgy (bose' super secret most commonly found in their higher range speakers) the 141's are a good bet for music or home theater. I would reccommend that you have a sub when using these for home theater although the bass is clear. The highs are a little weak, mids are damn clear and for 40 bucks a pop-you really can't argue with bose. The look of the speaker is typical bose (the "vent" on the front side which is the stereo everywhere thingy). So if you are looking for a good speaker with good range and for a good price-this may be something to check out. It got 3 stars for some issues with highs.*remember when checkin' out any speaker at a retailer remember they sometimes can trick you-so try to listen to speakers on the receiver most like your own* |

These speakers have some kickin bass for being so small and inexpensive. But does this speaker even have a tweeter???? The high's are absolutely horrid which sucks for me cause I bought them for use as surround sound speakers. |

I have a pair of Bose 141's for my rear channel in my theater. And I have to disagree with all the Bose slammers. When have you ever heard of a 4.5" woofer produce room shaking bass? or deep bass for that matter? For extension speakers or rear surround speakers they are a great deal. But not for main speakers. They lack bass and some high notes. But then again for a full range driver, it has good sound. |

My brother gave me these speakers over a year ago. That being said, I didn"t expect much. They have traveled from one location to another in the house and settled in the kitchen on the breakfast bar serving as book ends with the actual "system" being hidden below in a cupboard. This system replaced a Yamaha GX-70 complete system which took up too much room on the counter. My wife wanted her counter space back and the hidden system suited her needs of clean counter space and a decent sounding CD. |

I use these as surround speakers so I can't say I pay a lot of attention to them. They do provide good ambience especially when music is played in different soundfields. Don't expect too much for $60 speakers. |

I would not buy Bose for myself. Having said that, I am using two pairs of these speakers as PA speakers. There are no other speakers like this in the market. No tweeter means I cannot blow out these speakers. Small size really helps too. Besides a pair can be bought for less than $60. Hang a pair or two on a ceiling in a small room and they excel as PA speakers. If you are looking for small, cheap, and reliable PA speakers, this seems to be the only one in the market. As a PA speakers, 3 stars. As a part of audio system, come on! |

I use these as rear surrounds in a Dolby Surround system. These are not BAD speakers, for what I use them for and the equipment I have they run good. I use them with Bose 301 Series III's, and the overall effect does the job. This system is really only watching TV(I do have A DSS, but an old one), and VHS HiFi. I don't expect much, and I'm not disappointed. |

moderate midrange

Where should I start? I had to use (borrow) these between the time I had sold my infinitys and when I got my Paradigm Monitor 3's. |
