Strength:
good speakers for those who want performance, on a budget
Weakness:
obviously not as good as speakers which costt 1000 or more Look people, these speakers have a nich audience. That is, teenagers through twenty somethings. This is because people in that age group do not have a large sum of money to throw out on speakers when they also have to buy a muffler for their car or pay for college. I fall into the latter half, in my college I have the system. People all over my building know who I am because they can hear the Matrix three floors up. I have a Sony 845 reciever with a polk sub and DCM center. The Bose forms the left/right speakers, and true I have heard better. But if your on a budget you WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED... by the way, my uncle has a system which cost 93,000 dollars. Would it be right for him to wright a review on this product based upon what he owns? no. I am not a "bose" supporter, I bought them cus they sound good. If you ever want to hear for yourself, then just come on down to Western Illinoie University and look for the dorm with the shaking walls. One thing though, as I have stated I use these speakers to whatch MOVIES i have a seperate system for music. I reccomend not buying these to play music as a stand alone, you will need a good sub. Great Marketing
Weakness:
Curiosity I once used to go to Sears and drool all over these speakers. Don't laugh they sounded a lot better than my GE clock radio. But then I got a job making pretty good money and I said time to buy a SOUND SYSTEM. However, when it comes to spending my money I always want to ensure that it is money well spent. This is probably because I never really had money before. My curiosity brought be to some specialty audio dealers, and it was then I relized what a DUMB *SS I was for drooling over this crap. But before someone says well you can not compare it to a 1000 dollar speaker. The speakers I was listening to was a pair of paradign monitor 3s. Which is hardly expensive.I feel your pain and I understand your anger and I didn't even buy them, I am just upset that I drooled over them.(How embarassing). Do yourself a favor don't get mad just listen to speakers at a specialty store. Similar Products Used: From GE clock radios to B&W 805 |

After much shopping, i always came back to the Bose 301 Series IV. They out-performed much larger floor standing models from JBL, Cerwin Vega, and KLH. These speakers reproduce sound with incredible accuracy, and never fail to add floor shaking bass. Bose's direct/reflecting technology makes sound much more spacious. Bose, and the 301 IV's get my full vote. Superb!(2" stereo targeting, high sensivity tweeter; 3" reflecting tweeter; 8" flared port woofer) |

Lately, I have been shoppping around for some bookshelf speakers to replace the floor standing ones that I have now. After much researching and listening, I started out with Boston Acoustics CR7. Bad choice. The BA's are ok if you like to listen to classical or jazz, but for rock, pop, or R&B, they don't cut it. I then purchased the Bose 301 IV series, took them home and hooked them up. Instantly, the sound was totally different. For a bookshelf speaker, they provide amazing bass and the highs are crisp and clear. This is the speaker of my choice for the amount of money spent. |

Bose's slogan "Better Sound Through Research" should be the subject of there company's mission statement. Bose speakers are over rated partly because of marketing and advertising. Bose has cleverly manipulated the average consumer into buying there speakers. Having heard the 301's at a friends place, I was bittlerly disapointed. They were too bright and loud. Also there was not much clarity on the highs. The direct reflecting technology incorporated is a gimmick. For $100 less the Paradigm mini monitor or PSB Century 300 will definetely satisfy those who want performance and value. |
