Strength:
They don't look any different from many other similar speakers, but rather shockingly huge sound soundstage sets them apart. Should be able to get it cheap as a used pair. Well worth your consideration in my opinion. The five stars is for this standout quality.
Weakness:
small, so they aren't full range. If you want full range, you'll need a subwoofer. Matching a sub requires some expertise, so if you don't know what's involved, do some due diligence and research on the web first. Excellent Speakers! They had a wall of speakers there. Definitive Tech (I'll call it DT) was also excellent++. They only seemed 2nd rate compared to the CR55. The DT's had detail and quality sound also. So what was the difference? The only way I can describe it was the CR55 sounded gigantic - even in a large room - completely room filling sound. The DT's sounded like, well, 2 point sources trying to fill the room. Usually, I find the differences between speakers in the same price range to be on the subtle side. But in this case, my impression is that there was a substantial difference. Plainly evident, and worth extra money, although they really didn't cost much. Others may disagree - that's to be expected. The room and electronics might have something to do with it, but all speakers were all tested w same electronics in same room.
Customer Service Not a lick of trouble in 5 years. So can't comment. Similar Products Used: Definitive Tech |
