These classic Henry Kloss acoustic suspension units may be too hip for the room: Buyers at this[approx $250] price are likely to have cheap electronics and to have heard mostly ported speakers with lots of boomey base extension. Placed no further than 8" from an end wall, these units will reach 50hz, and assuming NAD or better amplification, deliver a smooth transparence that nothing even close to this price can match. Over the years I've seen a lot of Kloss speakers at musician's houses: AR3s, KLH6s, Large Advents. These show why!

Strength:

Excellent seperation for the price.

Weakness:

None

These little bad boys are worth every penny. For all of you comparing these to Bose, you must be deaf if you think Bose sound better. Sure they will not thump like a 12" woofer, but that is not what they are made for. They are made to complement a good subwoofer. Do not buy these for bass or to piss your parents off because it will not work. They are very clear and crisp. They have excellent mid-range which is something Bose completely lack. The only thing is that if you are going to spend $200 on these, spend the extra $50-75 and go with Paradigm mini-monitors which have won numerous awards. If you are locked in at $200, then these are worth every penny just don't expect the room to shake with bass. Excellent Speakers

Strength:

cost to proformance ratio

Weakness:

build quality & finish

these speakers are excellent for what they are meant to be- inexpensive bookshelf speakers, very few bookshelf speakers offer significantly more bass, and certainly not any within $500 to them. the tweeters are great, very crisp, and not harsh at all. i have noticed that these speakers have a little difficulty with playing music very loud (105db+) over long periods of time, but once agian, i paid $200 for them. one area that they very seriously lack in is finish, they are preatty ugly, kinda big and square. all in all, this is an excellent "old school" speaker. it plays all music preatty well, although i have noticed that they have a little preference to rock,
