Strength:
Very neutral tonal character, extremely revealing, detailed sound, great bass extension, excellent build quality
Weakness:
Needs great equipment to really shine! This speaker is the newest speaker in the Epos line. It is a well-respected British speaker producer, which was new to me at the time of audition. I auditioned it at Audioconnection in Verona, NJ (which is an excellent shop btw, great service, honest people) so i trusted them when they recommended the Epos. I also heard a pair of Linn speakers (either Katan or Trikan model) which went for about $1000. I heard those first, then the Epos. Compared to the Linn, the Epos didn't have as detailed a high end, or the low end articulation/extension of the Lynn.. But, this speaker costs only $330! This speaker has no major flaws, it is very easy to listen to throughout the entire frequency range. It is neutral sounding, very detailed, and has good bass extension. Also, they are rated for 100W at 4ohms. They can easily handle much more! I usually feed them about 125W per side, and they sound very clean at all volumes. The one really nice thing about them is that they are extremely revealing. They will expose every bit of dirt and grain in your music, and your weakest components will be obvious. You will hear neat sounds in your music that you never heard before too! All things considered, these speakers play music beautifully!
