I'm an infinity speaker fan. I picked up 4 of these on Craigslist as I had never tried the Entra's. Got them home and found one with a bad tweeter. Compared the tweeter to Infinities US-1(a small wall mount speaker with a 4" woofer), and the Entra tweeter looks wimpy. Also I couldn't find many reviews on the Entra 1, but of the limited reviews, someone else here on audioreview also had a blown tweeter. I've never had a problem with tweeters in RS1's, 2',s, 3's,4's, 5's, Primus 250's and some other infinity products. I wonder if they cheapened up the tweeter in the Entra line. The previous model, RS2, has a broader frequency range (more bass) and I prefer the sound it produces. I would avoid this line or make sure you get a very low price on it and listen to each speaker very carefully..

I purchased these for $357 new and immediately felt that I'd been had. What they promise vs. what they are are two separate entities. These speakers bring you blurry bass and sloppy imaging with passable highs and mids. Do they make a noise? yes. Do they get louder as you increase volume? yes. Is it an enjoyable experience to delve into the depths and details of your recordings? The answer is a resounding no. I want my money back, but Circuit City doesn't exist anymore. Perhaps their nonexistence has something to do with charging way too much money for inadequate equipment. I never went back, and it sickens me to think that someone can purchase these speakers for $25 on craigslist (their actual value) after I spent 12 times as much. |

Strength:
Balanced natural and musical sound. Good power handling and bass response for a small speaker.
Weakness:
Not an extremely accurate speaker - covers up some deficiencies in recordings. Stereo imaging is not particularly stable. Imaging in a 5.1 setup is good though. These speakers stood out for me as hiving the most "natural" sound of several bookshelf I auditioned at the time. At $100 each, the value definitely made an impression. The 125 W power handling and bass response down to 60 Hz is actually quite respectable for a home theater application. Your sub-woofer won't have to work very hard. Strength:
amazing bass for a speaker this size. very clean and accurate high and mid range. pretty good fit n' finish . `
Weakness:
could really use by wiring capabilities. bass sometimes a little to good, definetly need stands if used in two channel as mains. I purchased these from a guy on craigs list with the infinity entra two and the entra center for $100.00. For the price I paid these are great speakers. The c.m.m.d drivers are really clean and they sound really good when playing vinyl . When playing digital they can get a little harsh, but they are not bad speakers they really are a fantastic bargin. When I got them they weren't even broken in yet, and now that I have gotten to put some time into them they have gotten even better. They have really opened up and I can't complain at all about the sound. The bass on these speakers is quite impressive considering they only have a single 6" driver in each box. The fit and finish of these speakers is well above what they were going for. Even if these were bought brand new I think these are a great bargain , and well worth a look for some one who needs a bedroom system, or even as a main two channel system. No they are not B&W, Wilson, Martin Logan, or any other high end speaker you can think of,and if you expect that out of these you will be disappointed. If though, you have a budget and you want good sound for you're money these will not dissapoint. Similar Products Used: most mid-fi stuff |
