Strength:
Crisp sharp highs, good detail, nice value for the price
Weakness:
Picky when it comes to placement in the room. These speakers can sound really really BAD if you put them in bad spots. About a year ago, based on the reviews here, I bought myself a pair of these speakers. At first I wasn't too impressed, but after some decent speaker stands, and more careful speaker placement, I really started to enjoy these speakers. After I upgraded to a Rotel 970bx CD player, these speakers really started to shine. I hope I will not be disappointed when I upgrade them. |

Strength:
Great price to sound ratio!!
Weakness:
None that I can think of. These are the best speakers for your money. Not only that, they are THE best overall speakers I've heard around in their class. When I first saw the reviews for them on here I thought I might test them out. Then, I found out they were discontinued and finding them is hard. I finally got my hands on two pair and they are the best speakers for my bedroom. Not only that I use sometimes for my home theater. Especially good with volume blasting at max; no immediate distortion!! They're that GOOD!! They only way you can get better speakers is spend thousands more. |

Strength:
Crisp, clear, strong sound. Nice bass, good clarity. A pleasure to listen to. Very cool looking speakers.
Weakness:
Eventually they may fall short if you need more POWER. And I know some of you yearn for more POWER. For a small apartment these speakers are really nice. The sound is clear and mellow, and so far they have given me a lot of pleasure. They seem to go well with record playing, which I do a lot of. They seem to go well with my Denon receiver as well. Gordon Lightfoot and his little band sound like they're hanging with me, strumming & singing songs. Nice. I understand that JBL has discontinued these speakers. I've listened to new JBL bookshelf speakers in a place called Hippo's, and they were not in the same class as these. Similar Products Used: Polk Audio, Boston Acoustics, Infinity |

Strength:
great sound for the price; they sound a lot more expensive than they are
Weakness:
none, but JBL is nuts to discontinue such a fine sounding unit I am not going to repeat all the postive superlatives posted about this speaker. They are all true. The detail, balance, soundstage, tight bass, smooth mids, nice horn driven highs, etc. What is amazing is that this speaker, at well under $200 these days (it has been discontinued, which makes no sense to me) sounds like speakers that cost at least 3 or 4 times as much! Once in a while, JBL makes a bookshelf speaker that shines in every respect. The HLS610 is that speaker. A mega audio bargain to say the least! Similar Products Used: Polk, Bose, Paradigm |

Strength:
True high-end sound; very revealing speaker for what it costs; throws a fantastic soundstage with good air
Weakness:
None, but I wish it came in cherry wood finish. I hope you like black, since it only comes in it. JBL is crazy to discontinue this speaker. This is one of those twice in a lifetime 'best buys/bargains of the century'. This speaker does everything SO right. With good electronics, this baby is SO musical. Sounds almost like a Dynaudio or Soliloquy, I kid you not. Very open, detailed, airy, pinpoint imaging, biting and realistic horn sound and treble. They have outdone themselves with this one. I hope they bring this one back, perhaps in different colors/wood enclosures. Similar Products Used: Kef Cresta, Platinum Audio Monitor series, PSB Alpha |

Weakness:
A Little big for bookshelf use I got these a year ago at Best Buy for $90 each, even at that time I thought I had a good deal.I read an article that states a lot of designing thought went into these speakers.I don't have a critical ear, but they really sound good to me. I think the sound can be described as "real".A quick listen at the store proved nothing because so many radios were playing, but once I got home and they broke in they sounded FAN-TASTIC! It's a real shame that they quit making them. Does anyone know why? Similar Products Used: old KLH speakers |

Strength:
Very good imaging, quite revealing and balanced for the price, a true bargain in audio
Weakness:
WHY is JBL discontinuing these?! This speaker is so balanced and musical, my guess is that their other line will not get as much attention, and sales may suffer. In any case, discontinuing these is a loss to the consumer as far as sheer value goes. I would be hard pressed to find too many other speakers that deliver this level of sound quality for the price (under $200 a pair) I am not going to repeat what most reviewers have already said about these speaks. In brief, they are revealing, unfatiguing, balanced, dynamic, and would be a good buy even at $400 a pair. These are a MUST listen if you are trying to attain audio perfection for under $200 a pair. The horn sounds so alive and lends a vibrant quality to the music without sounding overly harsh. Sibilance is kept to a low as well. In short, this speaker is UNREAL for under 2 bills. A sure steal! Strength:
Great sounding bookshelf
Weakness:
fit and finish when you take the front baffle off seems cheap This speaker sounds like a dream for a bookshelf! Great imaging, good base, shimmering highs, and the horn load tweeter sounds oh so nice! This is perhaps the best sounding speaker for $300-$400 a pair (even though these were only $185 at Best Buy). I believe they may have been discontinued, but if you can find them, give them a listen. They are worth every penny and then some! Similar Products Used: Polk, B.I.C. |

Strength:
Good solid sound, great highs, decent bass
Weakness:
They are a little bigger then other bookshelf speakers I have had these for about 6 months now and I am very happy with them. They did not sound the greatest when I tested them in Best Buy, but after talking to others who had them and listening to both the 610s and other speakers, like Bose, Infinity and others I decide to go with the 610s. They work great in the HT setup and produce solid bass, especially considering I did not have a sub until just last week. I had to frequently turn down the sound during explosions and other such events. They are a little bigger then other bookshelf speakers, but it really is not that much of a problem.
