Strength:
They have a very clean sound and are capable of filling a room meant for a much larger speaker. They sing, sound pretty natural, and can't be beat in the bang-for-your-buck category. Plus they're hella loud, if that floats your boat.
Weakness:
They are pretty directional so you'll have to find out what orientation works best in your listening environment. The black drivers and cabinet are pretty mundane and, while professional and sleek, won't be mistaken for art by you or anyone else. Well, Picasso could call it art but who really likes cubism? Anyone? That's what I thought. I have been using a pair of SB-2s as my only sound source for over a year now and can safely say I have thoroughly enjoyed these speakers! They sound much larger than they actually are, producing a fullness that is remarkable for their size. The mids are clean and sharp while the highs just scream from the Tractix horn. I would say these speakers sound aggressive but they are not so in-your-face as to be annoying. The highs have a tendency to be a bit stronger than the midrange but they are never overpowering. Be careful, however, because these speakers can hurt you. They will play so frickin' loud your ears will literally beg you to turn them down... and that's only at half volume. Bass response seems to really drop off below the mid 40Hz range but if you're expecting more from a bookshelf speaker, turn your computer off now, find a gun, and rid the gene pool of yourself. These speakers are not meant to play super low and, while they do all but the most bass-intense music justice, you will need a sub if these are going into a theater setup. They won't shake your fillings loose but bass is adequate, sharp, and clean at all volumes. It's done well, just not deep. My only real complaint is that placement is important for these guys. They are pretty directional and if you can't get them set up properly, they won't even pretend to create an even listening field. This is all a matter of set up, however, because when you're in the sweet spot (you'll know it, trust me), it's magical. They open up a little if you take the grills off but the drivers and unfortunately not particularly exciting. The same could be said for the cabinet despite its robust and solid construction. For the money, nothing beats these speakers. You're doing yourself a favor by purchasing them. Strength:
clear sound with little power needed.
Weakness:
None. Just need time to break-in, then they really shine. Got these for Christmas after spending a lot of time listening to other models at different audio stores. I am amazed at the clear sound coming out of these babies. They are used mainly for HT and some music listening. They take about 150 hours of play to open up and shine. So be patient. You will not regret purchasing them. |

Strength:
Clear, clean, good response within their frequency limits.
Weakness:
Need a sub. Is this a weakness? What speaker this size (or twice this size) doesn't? Will amplifiy any weakness in your amp or receiver. (Maybe this should also be under strengths?) A long story I'll try to make short. Had a Yamaha YHT-18 HTR sytem that I was happy with, except the sub made a BLAT!!! sound at certain LFE frequencies. So I bought a Klipsch KSW-10 sub. Now the rest of my speakers sound like crap. Bought Klipsch SB-2s, SS-1s and SC-1. I wasn't thrilled, too harsh, but I'd just dropped over 1K on these speakers. I tweaked my Yamaha HTR-5440 and got reasonable sound but still not great. Maybe the Amp? Bought a Denon 3802 receiver and these speakers absolutely came to life! Maybe I was seeing the break-in that people here are talking about but I don't think so. Read the reviews on Klipschhorns. I think the SB-2s etc have the same ability to amplify your receiver's weakness. Get a good Amp & they're the best speaker you could own. I'm not talking about more power here, 35 watts should be plenty with speakers this efficient, but quality. Similar Products Used: Fischer, JBL, Bose, Yamaha, Advent |

Strength:
LOUD!!! clear sizzling highs.. the Tractrix horns really amplify the highs and will make you think you are listening to much larger speakers.
Weakness:
it does not have a 6.5 inch woofer. it is a 5.25" even in the Klipsch manual that comes with the speakers it says it has a 6.5 inch. but still for it's size it is excelent. They are great!! first of all they only have a 5 1/4 inch woofer. (not a 6.5). so u will need a subwoofer. they have great efficiency (93db 1 watt/1 meter) so they can play very loudly with out high power. after all they will only handle 85 watts max RMS. great (loud and clear) highs sizzle out of the Tractrix horn loaded tweeter. the bass is clean and tight. but if u want full range sound u will need a subwoofer especialy if you listen to rap music like i do. if you are shopping in this price range and want to get the most out of your reveiver and dont have alot of room to donate for speakers these are the way to go. Strength:
Exceptional clarity, fabulous highs, great overall sound. An excellent value.
Weakness:
Needs a subwoofer if you really need major thump. Great sounding speakers for their size. Compared to Boston Acoustic and B&W before I bought. The Tractrix horns really blast out the highs. Exceptional clarity. I'm using them as mains in my home theatre. Great sound alone for music. Similar Products Used: B&W, Polk |

Strength:
Crisp and clear sound, excellent quality for the price
Weakness:
None considering the size of the speaker, may not pack enough punch without a subwoofer These speakers provide excellent crisp sound for CD's and DVD's as front left and right. There is a very full sound produced at low volumes. These speakers are bright - a subwoofer is needed to fill in the low ends. Combined with other Klipsch Synergy speakers, Home Entertainment comes alive. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega, JBL |

Strength:
Very detailed highs and great mid reproduction.
Weakness:
Will need a sub to make up for the low end as mid's are 6.5". I like to get the full range = ) Purchased based on reviews on this forum and from my own listening tests. Great audio clarity and detail especially for the price. Doesn't require much power to attain great sound. Known quality for horns. Currently used in a Pre-Pro/Amp setup with KSW-12 sub. |

Great Overall sounding speaker. Nice looking. Cant wait to listenin to them in my room 7/12. Whoo hoo, not too long to go. Better sound than moer expensive speakers. Have a depth and clarity to them i havent heard in other speakers ive listened to.
Weakness:
I cant find any. I Hope the dont have any or ill be returning them. ive been trying to get my hands on some new speakers, and since my birhtday is coming up i found it to be a great oppurtunity to get the excellent Klipsch SB-2's. ive been to tweeter at least 5 times in the past couple of weeks listening to speakers ranging from 300 dollars to the sky. A curious fact is that the klipsch SB-2s sounded much better than a 600 dollar pair of reference Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers. Sad but true. Also through much listening and deciding ive come to the conclusion that the SB-2s sound better than the Klipsch Reference series RB-3's, for 650! The Rb-3 speakers hurt my ears. their bass was unrefined and exaggerated, and they over all had a muddier sound than the less expensive SB-2's. Mind you the RB'3 may be a good speakers but to me i think the SB-2's just sound better. Clean bass, punchy but not overdone, just what ive been looking for. The highs are nice, not extremely loud but not laid back to say the least. Definitely not a laid back speaker. In your face! But seriously, the Sb-2's are the bomb, and i cant wait to get them for my b-day. Everyting Base is unbelievable, placement very important, play with it and move it around.Probably one foot off wall good.
Weakness:
none unless you want to pay more for a more Glitxy Name. I bought these to upgrade my rears from Pinnacles that were decent.I was going to get Sb-1"s but Klipch"s statement of bigger booms during Dvd watching made the decision. These speakers as stated in other reviews are correct in that if you don't have the room for Floor's for your mains these are definitely awesome in their place. My Wife as many of our's usully could care less about equipment, but after I hooked these up as rears we watched "The Fifth Element" and she was smiling and remarking through-out amazed at what new sounds she never heard. My mains are Klipsch Ksf8.5"s,center-Ksf-c5(which I upgraded from the Klipsch Kv-1-it was worth it),Velodyne Sub.,and believe it or not Sony Str-d515 upgraded by Toshiba Dvd w/DD Decoder. The system sounds so awesome I was thinking of upgrading to a Yamaha Rx-v1200 Rec.but with the add of Klipsch Sb-2"s and Ksf-c5 center I don't know if I"ll hear much of a difference.Hope this was of help.
