Strength:

BEST SOUND FOR ANY MONEY

Weakness:

DEEP BASS

LET'S PUT IT THIS WAY, I LISTENED TO EVERYTHING THAT WAS 300 DOLLARS OR LESS PER SPEAKER, EVERYTHING! THE KLIPSCH ARE HANDS DOWN THE BEST SOUNDING SPEAKER BAR NONE! EVEN WHEN THE VOLUME GOES WAY UP THESE BABIES DON'T DISTORT THEY JUST CRANK. THE HIGHS THESE SPEAKERS PRODUCE ARE THE CLEANEST THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD, THE BASS IS TIGHT BUT NOT DEEP, YOU NEED A GOOD SUBWOOFER FOR TO FILL OUT THE SOUND. I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM. IF YOU WANT HIGH END SPEAKERS FOR LITTLE MONEY GO LISTEN TO THE SUBPAR COMPETITION AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THE KLIPSCH.MY SYSTEM. ONKYO 575X, SAMSUNG DVD-711,KLIPSCH SB-2'S, KLIPSCH SC-1(CENTER),BOSE-201'S(REAR)SONY SA-WM40,I LOVE IT BUT IF I COULD DO IT OVER I WOULD SCRATCH THE SAMSUNG FOR A PIONEER AND SCRATCH THE BOSE FOR ANOTHER SET OF SB-2'S AND IT WOULD BE UNBEATABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased these to use as
my surround speakers for my home
theater system. They are fantastic
no complaints. I tried them for the
hell of it, plugged into my main
channels, and they sounded great as well.

Strength:

Balanced, natural sounding, and precise.

Weakness:

Need a bit of a break-in(strings were a bit strident at first).Poor shipping box(my speakers arrived nicked)

Auditioned these by mistake while comparing other speakers. Simply no comparison in their price range ($350 at store).
Listened to symphonic orchestral music--they were balanced, natural sounding and clear--almost a revelation compared to the others on display (Bose, Polk, Infinity). Truly. Couldn't compare them directly to higher-end models I'd heard (B+H, Canton) but these little Klipschs I would think to be their equals at least. The smaller SB-1 is more average. Haven't heard the larger SB-3 but would be surprised if it too wasn't superior.
The designers of this outfit have just done a great job of matching components. The result is a real pleasure to listen to. Do yourself a favor and find them and listen.

Strength:

size, power handling, clean sound. PRICE!

Weakness:

one-for-all skimpy manuals.

I originally bought SB-1 ($250/pr) at United Audio Centers as they sounded better than anything else of similar size/price and I liked them a lot. As I researched online, I found the SB-2 at Vanns.com for $180/pr (steal 'em before they are gone; maybe '99 model, but it's still the same speaker) and returned my SB-1's. (btw, UAC came down bigtime on a whole Klipsch package - center, rears, and SW- when I came in with printout of prices from online - Yahoo shopping was the best source).

The sound is very crisp and clean and it seems to have as much, or more, bass as I'd expect from a speaker this size. They produce pretty good bass during surround listening, too, which adds to the SW bass output and enhances the whole feeling. I listed to some opera with both very low and very high voices and music and it sounded so awesome - I really felt like I was there. I like all kinds of music and find that these really bring music with horns to life.

I'm no audiophile (though you'd have to be deaf not to hear the differences between speakers), but I have never wanted to listen to music as much as I do now. If I'm not watching TV, I've got a CD going. When the house is empty, I turn it up and listen anywhere in the (relatively big) house. With the sub, you can feel it upstairs!

Finally, on the technical side, the sensitivity (the loudness at a fixed wattage) and bass response for a speaker this size in this price range was unmatched by anything else I looked at. It's the ear that matters, but these specs tell part of the story.

The one negative is the skimpy manual that applies to every speaker in the product line. granted, it's not rocket science, but i was looking for some hand-holding as a relative novice.

Strength:

Sound quality, construction, small size. good base for the small size.

Weakness:

none

While considering building a home-theatre, I spent some time looking for a system in my (and my wifes) price category. My brother has the xl-15's from energy so I had thought about buyings a system from them. Then I heard the sb-2, ss-1, sc-1, and ksw-12 in an adio/home-theatre store. This just blew me away. TGhe sound is incredible for moves and music. Everything blends together perfectly. The sound from these small bookshelf completely outdoes my old bose speakers and for music. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to enjoy listening to music and movies without breaking the bank.
