Strength:

When these speakers came out on the market they cost 1,300.00 a pair . Being discountinued they can be found at considerably less . Taking into consideration how great they sound , at the orice they can be adquired they are a no brainer . Using the usual audiophile iargon they have excellent bass , nicely extended top end with great dynamics . But what sets these speakers from the mundane is its midrange tonality Many manufacturers when voicing their bookshelf speakers have the tendency to downplay the top end in order to balance out the sound because of a bookshelf inhererit lack of bass . Some boost the midbass a bit in order to make the speaker sound as if it had bass and leave the high frequencies intact . In either case you get colorations , especially in the all important midrange where 80 percent of the music resides . Compromises a speaker manufacturer must make when designing a bookshelf to be sold at a certain price range . In these speakers neither compromises have been done . Being a bookshelf they have for a bookshelf great agility , quickness and extension in the bass , served by a 6.5 inch doped paperconed woofer . On the top end , played by a 1" softdomed tweeter , the highs are brilliantly managed with very little if any brittleness or grain . All this gives way to a tonally accurate and transparent midrange that just falls into place . The resulting sound gives way to memories of english manufacturer Proac or Thiel speakers or planar speakers as magnepan. Imaging is also well served as the speakers project a wide soundstage with upfront or deep projections depending on the source . How could a american manufacturer create a speaker that by its sound competes easily in the 2,000 to 2500 price bracket ? Carefully design braced and curved cabinets with high quality drivers and crossover parts and built by the chinese in order to keep cost down . When they came out on the market they were 1,300.00 a pair and worth every penny . Discontinued they can be found for 4 or 500.00 dollars , in my estimation a No Brainer . Google them and see the general concensus on their performance . LSA has a new line of speakers that have not been reviewed yet but knowing their track record and the reviews their different models have generated in the past they should be at least as good

Weakness:

As with all speakers careful placement , good quality stands and a good signal are a must especially with speakers that are design to be tonally flat . Just one more thing , the last reviewer who complained of noise coming from the speaker it is obvious there was something wrong with his pair .

If you have really good ears, do not purchase. Everything sounds fine at first but after awhile I noticed some noise. Indistinguishable at first, but once hearing it it was always there. It's like your ears are ringing, and ringing, and ...
I thought maybe it was some kind of phonics from the tube in my Peachtree Audio Novo, but it wasn't.
When I moved them to my main Aragon system with PSB Stratus Silvers (which has no 'noise' whatsoever), they produced the same 'ringing noise'.
Maybe I just got a bad pair, maybe not.

Regard, Dave

Great sounding set of speakers. Tonal quality is there. Speakers disappear as it it hard to place them when listening. The bass extends really low. They handle more power effortlessly.
