Strength:

lots of bass, small (perfect for your tiny college apartment), great sound reproduction, and affordable.

Weakness:

not a one, yo.

I just bought my mini-monitors a few days ago, and these things rock! First off, allow me to clarify that I am a 20 year old college student on a very tight budget, and therefore these were perfect for me, being an aspiring home-theater enthusiast. I just made my leap into the whole thing, and I sure did my homework, only to find that the mini monitors were the best sounding speakers around. More than movies and whatnot, I totally dig my music, and these really pump. For all the younger kids out there without all that money to spend, check these things out!

Strength:

Balance, dispersion. Handles vocals beautifully. Price.

Weakness:

Requires decent stands and placement.

Excellent. These speakers easily represent the best in class. They truly shine! Placement can be tricky and invest in some decent stands. Break them in and enjoy! Does everything very well and was only $300. Why spend more?

Strength:

musical sound warm sound from a small speaker

Weakness:

Placement is a pain can not go anywhere near a wall Almost impossible to price shop not worth $350 to me.

I DO NOT GET THE HYPE WITH THESE SPEAKERS. First I will tell you right off that in my part of the world (Dallas, TX) people are paying more than msrp for these things and since paradigm does not allow mail or online retail you are forced to stand in line for these overpriced mediocre performers. I compared them to the price range: B&W 601 s2 - $400 a tad more money but worth it (I kept these) PSB 2Bs - $300 very good all around cheaper than the paradigm, better value and easier to use. NHT 1.5s - $320 (on the net) very clear, detailed sound but they sacrifice musicality for detail Acoustic energy Ageis One - the kind of musicality that you get from paradigm at a better price and will accept better placement, a bargain of a speaker. paradigm mini monitor - $350 local and not a penny less. Sound is musical but not accurate. They have a slightly exagerated mid bass. They also have a exagerated sound above 15kHz. But the serious flaw is the placement they freak out if you get them any closer than 2 feet from a rear wall. Which means that you are forced to place them on stands (hence the reason they are called mini monitors not bookshelfs) so be ready to shell out another $100 for decent stands. Therfore if your intentions are place these on bookshelfs or in corners of your room you are going to be sorry. You are better off with the B&W 601 or PSB 2Bs or Acoustic Energey ages 1 If you want speakers to place away from the wall you are better with the NHT super TWOs, Mission M73s or Polk RT70s.

Strength:

Great soundstage for an inexpensive speaker, generally warm, smooth sound.

Weakness:

Highs can get harsh, very muddy midrange especially at low volumes

I decided to put together a bedroom system for as little money as possible from quality "budget" components -- either leftovers of my own or purchased on Ebay. The first pair of speakers I got for the system was an inexpensive pair of Wharfedale Rubiance RB-23s from UBid. They arrived damaged during shipping, so I then moved onto the Paradigm Mini-Monitor. I did not have a chance to audition them, but I have Paradigm Studio Monitors (the ancestor of the current Studio/100''s) as my main speakers and based on how nice those are, plus all of the glowing MM reviews on the Web, I felt certain I''d be getting a great pair of speakers for the price. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I am disappointed with these speakers. On the positive side, they have a huge soundstage, both in width and breadth. I''m really impressed with the imaging. They pump out a lot of bass for such small speakers. Their combination of warmth and precision makes them good for certain types of music such as some types of jazz and vocals. But sadly, they have two faults which make them useless for my purposes: the tweeter can be very harsh at very high frequencies, such as found in rock music percussion. On the other hand, the lower midrange can be very dark and muddy. I notice this in particular when listening to piano. It sounds like the piano has been muffled with a wet blanket. Somehow the detail produced when the hammer strikes the string is missing, leaving only the pure tone of the note. It''s hard to explain, but it sounds very unnatural. The problem is especially pronounced at low listening levels. Since I tend to listen to rock in the morning and quiet piano solos at night, these factors made them unsuitable for my needs. As an aside, some bookshelf speakers I have spent some time with in the past include the NHT SuperOne and Boston Acoustics CR-series (7''s, 8''s, and 9''s). The MM''s are definitely superior to the BAs. They have a warmer, more full sound than the NHT''s, so let your personal preference be your guide when deciding between these speakers. My solution was to fix up the Wharfedales in stead of returning them. The Wharfies are certainly not perfect either but better suited to my needs. So I''ll either make the MM''s my new surrounds in place of some Boston Acoustics speakers or pass them onto my girlfriend.

Strength:

Very good overall balance, good bass extension for size. Very good mid and high.

Weakness:

Must be placed relatively far from walls or bass gets muddy.

Overall a very good speaker for mid-fi electronics. Handles music very well and pretty good for home theater as well. Certainy a very good value for the money.

Weakness:

None that I wouldn't expect in a small 2-way at this price

I picked these up used almost a year ago to fill in while I saved for Studio 60s. They sound so great that I keep putting off the upgrade even though I could have afforded it months ago. Stands and placement are critical, but no more so than with any speaker in its class.

I have had the Minis for about a year now and have been extremely pleased with them. I compared them to everything in their price range(B&W 301, NHT SuperOne, PSB alpha, Boston Acoustics, Polk, etc.) and they came out on top. I use them for both music and movies. My decision came down to the Minis vs. the SuperOnes(as many other people's has). I did a side-by-side comparison and the Minis had a clearer midrange and lower bass extension. I think the Minis are excellent speaker for home theatre due to their midrange clarity. They do have a hump in their bass response starting at about 200 Hz which I like, but some don't. Also, there is a peak in the upper frequencies which does bring cymbals and drums a bit forward. For the money, however, I think they are the best choice.

Strength:

Great sound. Suprising bass. But still need a sub, especially if used for HT.

Weakness:

None found yet.

Have wanted for a while and finally got them as a xmas gift to myself in early Dec. Sound keeps getting better the longer I listen to them. Haven't heard a speaker I would want more at this price. Compared them to Boston C8 and C9, both really nice, but the Mini was more natural to my ear. Give it listen.
Only complaint-the Paradigm label on the grill is slightly crooked ;]
