Strength:

Good high end, good mid range. Nice mounting bracket. Goes great on the wall.

Weakness:

Weak bass in large rooms. A sub (I use the PSW140) coupled with this speaker evens out the response.

Not a bad speaker. Good treble and midrange response, but weak bass (due to its 5 1/4" driver). I use a PSW140 as the sub with these RT15s and the sound is really good. I'm happy with the purchase and felt it was a good investment.

Strength:

Compact size

Weakness:

Some styles (e.g., white, maple) were difficult to find

I bought these speakers based on the recommendations I read here at audioreview.com and a review in the August 2001 Consumer Reports magazine. I am really pleased with them and I'd definitely recommend them to someone looking for compact speakers with big sound but not a big price tag. I am not a stereo enthusiast, but I am huge music fan with an extensive collection of CDs and LPs, so it was important for me to find a good pair of speakers. I didn't want to spend a fortune, and there wasn't enough room for Stonehenge-sized speakers in my new house. These speakers only stand about 11 inches high and 8 inches wide, but they put an enormous amount of lifelike sound. Thanks to everyone who posted reviews before I bought them!

Strength:

Great sound at affordable price

Weakness:

Not much .... cheesy logo, maybe?

These speakers just went on sale for $160 at my local Circuit City, which is $40 less than the normal price. Don't know how long the sale lasts, but what a deal! Terrific sound, compact size, and a cheaper-than-expected price.

Wanted to buy the RT 10( at $79.00/pair special) but since CC was out of those they decided to sell these for 79$/pair. Guess what I was so happy the did that and the speaker is awesome. Polk kicks ass!!

Strength:

Solid construction, very nice looking, detailed response and suprising bass! The "power port" design on the back is genius.

Weakness:

none

I entered the world of Surround Sound last Christmas and opted to go w/a Polk Audio setup for all speakers. When weighing different options for the rears, I ultimately decided on the RT15i's due to their low cost. They mounted easily on my wall and look great! While certainly a "small" speaker in shear dimensions, I've opted to call them "large" w/in my Sony receiver and am very happy w/the results (a "small" setting w/in my receiver didn't seem to steer enough audio to the rears).
Very, very happy w/these Polks.

Strength:

Good imaging, highs, and mid range.

Weakness:

Bass is a little weak, but what do you expect.

I bought three pairs of RT15s. The first pair was used as rear surround on my polk 5.1 surround sound setup. I have a Denon 3600DTS receiver and they sound superb. The second pair was mounted to the wall in a home gym room. The third set was mounted to the wall in my bedroom. They are great for wall mounting, because they are available in white and the wall mount brackets are already built in. This saves you $60-70 in brackets. That is not much but adds 30% to the cost of the speaker. I would have gone with the RT25, but to me, they just look too clunky hanging on the wall. The cabinet is deeper than the rt15 and they just stick out too far for my particular taste.

The speakers appear to be built very well. I bought them for $188 a pair from Good Guys. For the money, they are hard to beat.

If I was not going to mount the speakers on the wall, I may have considered a pair of Kef Q15s. I can purchase them for $215 from netmarket.com They are heavily discounted, so they may represent a better bang for the buck. Polk puts very little discount room into their speakers.

Strength:

Excellent sound quality for price. Great Value.
Good imaging, and tonal qualities

Weakness:

Rubber surround around woofer may deteriorate, although this is an extremely minor concern.

I required compact bookshelf speakers to fit a smaller listening room. My previous floor standing AR9s were too large for the room.

These are great sounding speakers for the price. Compared to the Infinity bookshelfs, they provide excellent imaging and pleasant balance. Surprising mid-low range. A matching sub would make these a perfect set up.

Quality and build is great. Nice that Polk provides for posts rather than clips. Overall impression is first class for Polk's low end speaker.

Strength:

Polk quality for < $100.00 ea.

Weakness:

They weren't on sale. Still a good deal so I don't mind.

After jotting down some quick review notes, I set off to trade in my Bose 141's and upgrade. These RT15's were not on my list so I did something I hadn't done in a long time. I made a purchase based solely on my own judgment at the time. Knowing nothing of this model beforehand, I used my eyes and ears to evaluate it's quality. I feel satisfied with my decision and I'm using these as main's with a pioneer center channel. My Giant Infinities from college just wouldn't fit in my new home so I'm glad to find some bookshelves that provide a nice substitute. If I really get crazy, I may invest in a sub later but I would also like to stay on my neighbors good side. If I move, I may drop these Polks back to rear channel and put some more muscle up front. For now, it's great as is.

Strength:

Clean sound, appearance, reliable and trustworthy manufacturer.

Weakness:

As of 6/2000, none!

The Polkaudio RT15i are excellent speakers for their size, sound, appearance, and value ($159 at J and R Music World - JandR.com). The bass is not a deep, deep bass but for those who do not want overbassed music, the bass is excellent. The highs and mid-range are excellent, too. The black finish complements the sound of the speakers and projects handsomeness in every sense of the word. One of the pluses in purchasing this speaker system is that I did not have to purchase seperate speaker brackets or mounts; the RT15i come with their own bracket (flat) mounted in the back. All you need is a 2" screw to mount on a wall (these little speakers are heavy). Make sure that a quarter inch of the screw is exposed from the wall - mount flat against the wall. You might hear it rattle against the wall if not mounted flat against it. An excellent buy for sound, appearance, and value.

Strength:

Nice dark sound. Not tinny and harsh at all.

Weakness:

I owned a set before but the midrange was blown when I took it out of the box. Just a tad bit big for rear speakers in my place.

I am using this speaker as a rear channel and let me tell you, these little things sound fantasic. I work for an electronics retailer, and Polks fit the bill for the sound I was looking for and the price was great. The price list was MSRP, but I got quite the deal on these little babies. Of course the Onkyo I am using has five channel stereo. Thats when the 15i's come to life. Their rich dark sound cannot be beat for the price.
