Strength:

Heavy. Great Mid/ Bass. Warranty/ Customer Service is excellent(5 Years).

Weakness:

Highs could be a bit more defined. The Polk LSi series addresses this issue.

I purchased these from Crutchfield, yes they are/were overpriced, but I am still happy with my purchase. Set-up is: RTi38(Main), CSi30(Center), PSW202(Subx2), Sony STR-DA2ES. Room dimensions are 12x17, concrete floor, carperted, heavy pad. I am a Polk Audio fan, so buying them was a solid purchase for me. Build quality is excellent, very heavy, which I prefer. Highs are very nice, Boston Acoustics has a small edge in clarity. KEF/ Paradigm are also excellent high end performers. Mids/Bass is excellent. The bass is tight, and punchy. I believe my room eats a little of my bass, to include the Subwoofer. I have the RTi38's mounted on the wall with B-Tech brackets, and connections are hardwired into walls via Monster Cable. I moved them there to help the with the resonance and sound from being absorbed/amplified so much by my entertainment center. It did improve imaging, and bass cleared up a small amount. I really am enjoying these speakers.

Strength:

Great overall sound reproduction, especially for size. Exquisite mid-range. Price.

Weakness:

None.

Just got these speakers yesterday. I have to say I am quite impressed. My first set of bookshelf speakers and my third set of Polks (yes, I am a fan). The RTi38's are being used in my bedroom with a Denon-683 Receiver and Yamaha CD player. The sound is very nice, warm full from highs through mids through the lows. That is what appeals to me the most about Polks is the mids are really fantastic. Of course the high and lows are great too. Other reviewers might actually think other speakers in this price range might be clearer, but I think that is due to the lack of a solid mid-range in those speakers. They will play high and lows and will hence illusively sound sharper and brighter. My experience with auditioning Infinity and Boston support this observation. In this price range I think this is definitely one of the better speakers and in fact sounds better that many floor standing speakers priced higher. Lastly, these speakers are very well priced for the sound you get. They are certainly not overpriced.

Strength:

Sound sound sound. I can't imagine speakers sounding better at this size for any price. Plus, they can handle a lot of volume.

Weakness:

Might be a little big for conventional bookshelf speakers, but hey, who cares.

Wow. I'm in a bit of a rush (two papers due tomorrow), but I just got both my RTi38's and my Denon DRA-685 at the same time. These speakers, pretty small, comepletely fill my dorm room (7.5 x 12). They're so monsterously clear. I bought these over the RTi28's because, well, I'm a size person. And I was boarding on regretting it (I hadn't plugged them in yet, but I had read reviews of the 28's, which were pretty good). These absolutely blow them away (not that they're bad speakers at all). The wooden cabinet creates such a warm sound. Nice work guys.

Strength:

Quality of the build, and value when compared to other speakers. Good god, they make some pretty pricey brands sound really crappy in comparisson . Very warm tone. And can handle LOTS of volume (my Denon DRA-695 can pump out quite a bit of wattage)

Weakness:

Heavy. That's it. Strictly bookshelf.

I can wholeheartedly concur with the review above that the RTi38's have an excellent sound, and a fantastic build quality. And yes, you did get overcharged; and by overcharged I mean you could have gotten the exact same speakers for in excess of one-hundred dollars cheaper. I'm a little bit disappointed that you would knock points off a great product in a review just because you failed to shop around. Most of the time, the cost of shipping is about the same cost as tax had you bought it in a store. So yes, all tolled, I paid about 300 dollars for my speakers, and I couldn't be happier. Well, I could. There are other places on the internet which sell the speakers for even less than I purchased them for. So yes, for 100 dollars less (that is, the amount you almost spent on the other set of Polks) you could have kept the RTi38's, which, in your own words, have better sound anyway. Aside from that, the size, (not the weight, but the size), is pretty economical. The construction is excellent, and the sound is, well, it's a wooden cabinet. It sounds fantastic (coupled with a nice receiver). And they're Polks. They're (depending on where you buy them) a great value.

Strength:

Excellent sound, build quality

Weakness:

Overpriced!

Overall an excellent speaker, but moderately overpriced. Honestly, I returned these speakers after about 2 weeks. After A-B testing in my living room, I ended up with a pair of Boston Acoustics CR-7 which I felt had a slight edge in clarity and were $100 cheaper. These speakers are quite a bit larger, but they are built very sturdy. Before you buy these, also audition the Polk R20 which also sounded very good. They have 97% of the sound of the RTi38s, have a smaller profile, and cost 50% as much.
