Was pleasantly surprised with the performance of these little bookshelf speakers. I wasn't expecting much for $105 a pair. While in transition during a move, my audio system was packed away. Longing for some entertainment, I decided to purchase a "cheap" set of speakers to setup until my new listening space could be completed. I had experience with other decent bookshelf speakers and expected to pay $300-500 for a set then thinking it unwise to invest any substantial amount considering the installation would be temporary. I saw these online at BestBuy and thought the pricetag was painless.
I visited my local store and saw they were about the right size so I purchased them. I hooked them up as mains in a near field orientation. I had some decent level spare equipement that I had stored. Using my computer as a source, I fronted the audio setup with a McIntosh MX100 preamp and drove the speakers with an NAD 2155 solid state amplifier rated at 55W per channel at 8ohms. Right out of the box, these little speakers presented a really good soundstage, good definition, and musicality. They defy their size and pricetag. Build quality is very good for a speaker in this pricerange and easily kept up with speakers I've setup in similar fashion costing much more.

Although I've seen these speakers setup in multi-channel setups as rears, they would perform comfortably as front speakers in a HT setup. I think these are better than some front channels I've seen presented in many HTs. They would also make good satellites in a two channel setup. I don't think I've heard anything in this pricepoint that sounded this good. Excellent value for entry level bookshelf speaker or for a moderate affordable home theater.

These are the rear speakers, 24' back from the front speakers and a Polk RM95 5.1 set with a Polk PSW 111 powered sub on a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. I am absolutely stunned that the sound is better than my 20-year-old full-sized speakers. I am sure the Pioneer helps, as clean, distortion-free juice is good food for any speaker. From Beatles to Beethoven ...oh, wait, from Albéniz to ZZ Top. I am *very* happy. These are definitely a step up in the deeper tones from the RM series but at my less than outrageous listening levels, and with the powered sub dialed in, they're great back speakers. I look forward to waking the house up with them every day, with a different selection, as I sit in the sweet spot like the guy in the black chair in the old Memorex commercials.
