Was pleasantly surprised with the performance of these little bookshelf speakers. I wasn't expecting much for $105 a pair. While in transition during a move, my audio system was packed away. Longing for some entertainment, I decided to purchase a "cheap" set of speakers to setup until my new listening space could be completed. I had experience with other decent bookshelf speakers and expected to pay $300-500 for a set then thinking it unwise to invest any substantial amount considering the installation would be temporary. I saw these online at BestBuy and thought the pricetag was painless.

These are the rear speakers, 24' back from the front speakers and a Polk RM95 5.1 set with a Polk PSW 111 powered sub on a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. I am absolutely stunned that the sound is better than my 20-year-old full-sized speakers. I am sure the Pioneer helps, as clean, distortion-free juice is good food for any speaker. From Beatles to Beethoven ...oh, wait, from Albéniz to ZZ Top. I am *very* happy. These are definitely a step up in the deeper tones from the RM series but at my less than outrageous listening levels, and with the powered sub dialed in, they're great back speakers. I look forward to waking the house up with them every day, with a different selection, as I sit in the sweet spot like the guy in the black chair in the old Memorex commercials. |
