Quite familiar with Rauna speaker line from 80's - Njord, Angela,Tyr, Lyra, etc. Strange names - may have misspelled some. They were too good to be true. But their heavy concrete enclosures made them a costly, impractical import from Sweden, and they just fizzled out; though Tyr is still available @ Rauna site. Pristine sound. SEAS drivers in the relatively infinite mass of concrete meant no cab resonance whatsoever. Perfect imaging, lightning fast transients, inaudible crossovers. I've used Tyr for 20 years w/ NAD 1300 pre, Hafler SE120 amp, Rega 3 with Ortofon X-3. As with most serious small monitors (6.5 mid/bass), a bit bass shy, but so accurate and well balanced that you only notice it in comparison to larger speakers. Nevertheless, the transient response can't be beat. I became a recording engineer in the 90's and used them to track and mix. High resolution of all timbres. They love jazz trios and cleanly recorded vocals.

Mine got fried when one of my kids stepped on the power amp's input cable, releasing a horrid, full-tilt 60 Hz buzz with overtones I never knew existed. Kid survived (barely), speakers didn't. But it appears Bo Hansen, the inventor, is still in business, and if I can get passed the lousy on-line robot translations of his Swedish site, www.rauna.com, my Tyrs will live again with all new drivers. If you can find a working pair of any Raunas for sale, grab 'em. They are rare, but due to their obscurity are likely to be a real bargain. Low supply - NO demand! If there's a pair of the transmission-line Njords out there on the U.S. used market, I'll race you to 'em! They were the Alpha dog of the Rauna line.
