Spendor S3e Bookshelf Speakers

DESCRIPTION

Despite its modest proportions the Spendor S3e shares the same advanced technology and design principles as our larger loudspeakers. At the heart of the S3e is a 140mm Spendor bass-midrange driver with our new ep38 polymer cone and thermally engineered magnet plates to ensure absolute linearity at any playing level. The S3e will sit happily on either a stand or bookshelf which makes it easy to place in your listening room

Strength:

Tone and toe-tapping enjoyment!!!

Weakness:

Little bass extension...I use them with the Spendor Sub3 which was fantasitc

Alright, I'll chip in...and yes, I wrote the S5e review as well...though it needs updating. Again I will keep it short. Buy these...Seriously! I bought them to be surround speakers complimenting my S5e's...if I knew how close they were to the 5's I would have bought them all around and saved the dough! The 5's do extend a little further down and do expand the enjoyment 5-10% (significant in audiophile terms), but the 3's are majic!!! I had them set up as mains for breakin and I almost couldn't demote them to effect speakers...it is a crime that I have them in their current role. The tone and natural presentation of these speakers is fantastic. Having owned Spica TC-60's and auditioned Revel M20's (not quite the same league...Revel's being more on par with the S5e's) they hardley give an inch. In fact if bookshelf/stand mounted speakers are what you are after you absolutely must audition them. End of story!
