Strength:

bi-wire/bi-amp terminals. Cabinet color in Maple with yellowish Kevlar drivers are very appealing to the eye. Do these compete with the B&Ws? It''s very possible that they do...for 1/2 the price.

Weakness:

The speaker grills (which I don''t use) look nice and fit, but seem to need reinforcement. / I would have used a few more screws mounting the drivers...for appearance sake. Say 6 or 7 rather than 4. It may help the way they look...say like the B&W 603s.

I have been looking and looking for some stellar performing speakers. With price as my most important factor, and sound quality next. I found out that, in this case, you don''t get what you pay for...You get much more than what you pay for. I was surprised at the accuracy and clarity these speakers produced from such a small package. I use a sub in my system and the transition is seamless. I use these in my basement for home theater, but musical reproduction is wonderful as well. Very good detail. Not too warm, like some British Loudspeakers can be.

shopped around quite a bit. comparing many, many others in higher price classes. Do these compete with the B&Ws? It''s very possible that they do...for 1/2 the price.

Strength:

Glorious sound. Very detailed and sonically pleasing with all styles of music, especially classical and jazz. Bargain price, expensive sound!

Weakness:

Well, okay...if I HAVE too. To be VERY picky I could say that the grilles are perhaps a bit flimsy. Bass is not as good as a sub...but really, DER! And I''m not sure if this is a critsicm or a compliment, but they really show up badly recorded music. Feed them a really dodgy signal, and they''ll reproduce it, perfectly!

After shopping around for months trying to find a pair of bookshelf speakers for my HT and music room, I stumbled across a review of the 8.2''s. Going on faith, I bought a pair without even listening to them. A risk you say? Perhaps. But MY GOD! Give these babys a couple of days to break in and you''ll never look back. Apart from looking absolutely stunning, the sound is huge, dynamic, extremely accurate (after only ever owning mini-systems!) and non-fatiguing. I would buy another pair any day. For home theatre, they can handle anything you throw at them. The music side of things is equally impressive. They''re a fairly big speaker (I''ve got them mounted on wall brackets) and the bass is fantastic...round and full. Of course there are always limitations as far as frequency response goes, but hey, that''s what subs are for! My advice, if you''re looking for a bookshelf speaker in the sub $500 category, then I would seriously give these Wharfedale Diamond''s a test.
