Strength:
Exceedingly crisp highs, very good mid, accurate if "shallow" bass. Great "hobbyist" speaker.
Weakness:
He's not going to say the bass response is he? Yup the bass. Also, really too big for bookshelf or surround use (13" deep by 10" wide) Really mains that need stands. Love 'em. Perfect you ask? Heck no. If somebody finds the perfect speaker for $50 please e-mail me :) Similar Products Used: Bose 141's (blows them away, read my review of the 141's) cheap JBL's and KLH's |

Strength:
Overall Bass Output, Clarity all around
Weakness:
Low Bass Handling Poor, general harshness at lower volumes Good cheap speakers. However, during high volume low bass situations, the speakers will emit a loud 'popping sound', which leads me to conclude that these speakers do not handle loud low-level bass very well. Also, until you feed these speakers a decent amount of volume, they sound very harsh. Still, what can you really expect for $75 a pair (what i got 'em for). Just don't use them for your main speakers. Similar Products Used: Pioneer Cs-G203, Technics SB-P1000 |

Strength:
Above average sounding speaker for less than $100
Weakness:
What do you expect for $100? I bought these for the bedroom. They work just fine for the bedroom. I have not noticed the 'pop' others are talking about, due to the fact I keep the volume down because they are bedroom speakers. I will say the bass is the weak link with these speakers, but since I use them basically for the bedroom TV, they work great. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Acoustic Suspension for better base. Good high and mid- Very good looking.
Weakness:
low end isn't deep enough. Subs let out a loud obnoxious pop if they get too loud. Nice bookshelfs over all. With the right reciever they can sound 4 times their size, but I dont believe that they were made to go super loud on their own, add some more speakers and a sub and these would be very very awesome speakers. But for the movie watcher type these are sweet. For the rock the house with base type they could be better. Overall these are very nice. Good looks too- :) |

CHEAP!
Weakness:
.......cheap...... I picked up a pair of theese for $150 at best buy as an opened item. I know what you are thinking.. What in the world is this man doing calling himself an audophile and buying a pair of $150 dollar speakers.... I love music and movies.. unfortunatly I live in an apartment and have a very limited budget. But I have listened to MANY MANY MANY different kinds of speakers. Theese.. well... they sound like cheap speakers.. They are too big for the sound they put out. I have heard better volume, clarity, and imaging from a 3 1/4" driver and a 3/4" titanium tweet. Hooked up to the right reciever with a fairly nice, built in EQ you can work with theese and get them sounding acceptable. Highs are a bit too high, bass is actually pretty good from the 8" driver for the price range, but the biggest drawback is the high-midrange. It's simply not there. One thing I will give Yamaha.. theese speakers will stand the test of time.. They are built rather well. I have never heard a yamaha speaker rattle. And they sound as good today as the first day I bought them. I basically go theese as something to listen to while I saved up $$ for some Paradigm towers. ummm.... paradigm towers... candy for my ears. OK that being said. If you looking for something cheap and now, theese are not a bad option. Similar Products Used: Other cheap speakers |

Strength:
Excellent mid and highs with good solid clean bass.
Weakness:
8" pops at very loud volume (will play load but not at very load volumes) This is an excellent speaker with clean highs, mids, and accurate bass due to the accoustic suspension design. It is stylish and well constructed. The only drawback is the pop in the 8" driver at very loud volumes. Not a problem for me or any Audio Enthusiast/Audiophile. Thought to myself, this is an excellent stylish cabinet that has an accoustic suspension design for tight rich bass. I replaced the 8" with two poly 8's I had lying around waiting for me to built some cabinets for them. Now I have monitors that rival even the most expensive monitors on the market.
